How to get 300whp+ on a HR
i had 4.08 in my '06 (which i wasn't to thrilled with it).... what makes them so much better w/ the HR engines.... is the powerband more suited to the 4.08's or the +500rpm to redline???
^that depends, what about the 4.08 did you not like? did you not like the top speed in each gear or the rpm's at your average cruising or you didn't feel that much of a difference?
..... I didn't mind the shorter gearing or my mph while cruising.....Actually the only mod that seemed to have an effect on acceleration ( for the Rev-Up ) was the TT kit haha!

why do you say that? what makes the gearing so good??
The only thing I can think of is slightly better acceleration for decreased gas mileage. I mean if it makes that big of a difference then why didn't Nissan put it there in the first place..
Has anyone here actually taken their HR to the track with a 4.08 FD and seen a big difference?

EDIT: Nissan does know the final drive fact though. The 370Z and G37, use the 3.7 final drive gear for the manual. The slight reduction in gearing, along with the slight increased fuel efficiency of the VHR, nets no fuel economy loss in that configuration. However the 7AT, lower gears (1-3) when coupled with the 3.3 auto final drive, gives combined rates of a HR/4.08 configuration.

^^^Nice to hear about the 4.08's.... before I'd get them again I would like to hear from a few more people.... ( note** I did not see much of a mpg loss when I did it in my '06.... maybe 1-1.5 mpg drop?!)
I never been to a drag strip but I go to few HPDE.
on TWS that I'm still learning big time (I'm still scared in some points) I have only 2 points where I keep the 3rd gear bouncing to the rev limiter because going to 4th and back to 3rd at the turn in would be actually slower... (but that because I'm too slow there)
at MSR houston the gearing was PERFECT. (for how perfect could be a non close ratio gearbox)
at GSS same as MSR, with the stock 3.5 I was "dead in the water" in two spots and with the 3.9 now I'm in powerband everywhere.
Nice. I have a Ti-C dual and injen intakes as well. I recently bought a set of Fast Intentions resonated test pipes, and im still in the process of getting a set of stillen headers. It'll all come together with an uprev tune sometime in the future.
