Hey alll! I posted some pics earlier.
The Msr wheel was 20x8.5 with 5 5/8 backspacing.
Not sure on offset. Gonna guess 35+ from looking at all Msr wheels.
Would this set up work? Even with a larger backspace?
without fender rolling/spacers/any other mods?

http://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-521-Wh...2.htm?CartID=1

18x8.5 and 18x10 both +20? Or +35 front +20 back?
245/40/18 front and 275/40/18 back?

^^^MAIIDZ.... If you dont want to roll you fenders I would go with 18x8.5 and 18x10 with a +25 offset on both. They dont come with a +20 offset. You might have lot of people tell you to use spacers and bring those wheels out some. I have the 521s. I have 18x10 all arround with a +25 offset. I plan to use a 15mm wheels spacer in the rear to have the back flush with the rear fender. It does not require a roll if you run 18x10+25 in the rear. I just rolled my fenders last weekend to make room for my wheel spacers.

Thanks bro. What tire setup are you on?
245/40/18 and 275/40/18 alright?
Also do your tires rub when turning?

Here is the skinny on my set up.
I have 4 XXR 521s 18x10+25
I have 265/35/18 front and 275/35/18 rear.
I am thinking of going 275/35/18 front and 275/40/18 rear next time.
I am lowered on 1" Eibach Pro Kit with a 1/2" cut on the rear Springmounts.
I have my fenders rolled in the back. I am going to use 15mm spacers in rear.
I am installing my rear adjustable camber arms this weekend.
The camber arms are very needed. Right now my rear wheels are tilled -3.
Nothing rubs on my car, even when turning.

If you get the 18x8.5 and 18x10, I would go with 245/40 and 275/40.
I know of 2 guys on my350z with that set up. I can try to find you pics.

This guy has the 18x8.5 front and 18x10 rear with 245/35 front and 275/35 rear.

This guy has the 18x8.5 front and 18x10 rear with 245/40 front and 275/40 rear at stock height. IMO, above looks better bc of the drop & spacers.

Default Just want a little bit wider tire for stock wheels

I realize there are a lot of threads about this, but they are always like what's the biggest tire I can put on a stock wheel. This is not what I am asking. I realize some people will say just go with the stock size, but I think with a 8.5 wide wheel you can go a little bit wider than 245/45. So this is basically a yes or no, btw I have the 06+ touring wheels. Would 245/40r18 in the front and 255/40r18 in the back safe to run with vdc and make the tires wider also would it provide better handling?

So buy some bigger tires.....done....

I run a 8.5 up front with my nismo wheels.....245/40
Not sure about messing up VDC though.
you realize your stock wheels are staggered already. 8" up front and 8.5 R if I remember.
I don't think you will see a handling increase with that, all things considered.

Great setup, and it has been mentioned a lot before. Less understeer etc etc. Only downfall is more fender gap (for the people worried about looks) and the speedo will be off a couple MPH.

Will the finder gap actually be that noticeable? Also why will the spedo be off? I thought if you got the tire sizes right it would be ok. What can I do to keep the spedo correct?

I found that the easiest way to get a good approximation for changes to tire dimensions and speedo issues is by using this tool:

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

It has a helpful graphic showing overlays of old vs new size.

Ok so after using this tool btw thank you very much! I have discovered the best tire sizes are 255/40r18 in front for a 8" wide wheel, isn't that too much for that? For the rear 265/40r18, is that too much for 8.5" wide wheel?

Yes you will need wider wheels for optimal performance and handling with those sizes. If you want to keep the wheels you have, just use the previously mentioned tires.

Ok thanks a lot guys. I'm sticking with stock becasue it's the best for the wheel. I guess I'll just need to get wider wheels when I get aftermarket ones.

Definitely would recommend wider wheels for those sizes.

18x10 +25(20mm spacer) now +5
Lots of pictures on the XXR Tread link below.

Default 18" wheels

I saw some other folks posted the same issue here. When searching for 18" wheels (e.g. on tirerack) for my 2004 350Z Base, most of them are 35mm offsets. Here I read they should be between 15mm & 25mm.

Where should I get wheels then? And which? I'd prefer not to use spacers, and it looks like 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 are the way to go, on which I'd put 245/40R18 & 275/40R18 tires, such as Toyo R888.

I've got a StopTech ST-40 brake kit on the front. Or if someone can recommend tires for my 17" rims instead that won't get destroyed when I don't drive as smooth as Jenson Button at the track.

Why not find wheels with the offsets you want in our marketplace?
