![Question](https://my350z.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a 2003 350Z Performance with stock 18's and want new tires and was wondering if i could use 235/40/R18 on the front and 255/40/R18 on the rear. I am curious if they will fit on the wheels and also if it will mess up the VDC. Any help would be nice.

I am in the same situation. But, I am thinking about going with 245/40/18 up front and 255/40/18 in the back. This gives me around a half inch stagger from front to back. VSC should be ok with it I hope!!

My 3 cents….
With the 245/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear I think the stagger is 0.4, which should be fine with VDC when compared to the (0.5-0.75) requirement. This setting should also reduce the under-steer known to be a problem with the Z’s balance on the twisties. I think the requirement is kind of loose though. You can naturally deviate outside of the ideal setting with the OEM sizes tires just from the simple wear of the tire (the fronts wearing more then the rears). So, I think I will be in the clear! The disadvantage is that there are few tire selections in these sizes. There are a few on tires.com but I think I am going to go with the BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 at tirerack. From what I have read these are good tires, last fairly long, are a little noisy. But, I doubt they will make the horrible cupping noise that I now have on my fronts currently!!

Rule number one (by Sticky):
If you increase or decrease your tire size over 3% of stock size (in outsize rolling diameter) it will affect your ABS braking system and VDC. Simply put, your car will sense the back wheels are rotating too quickly for example and the ECU will think you are spinning your tires/losing traction which will possibly cause your car to brake or cut off the throttle. I recommend you keep the margin within 1.5%
255-40-18rear looks small compare to 245-40-18front
Braking rules is tempting,kdw2:just do it
