Default 10.5" Axis Hiro users and other 10.5" guys

Those of you running 10.5" Hiro's in the rear, since the 10.5" only comes in a 35 offset, can you give me the measurement of how much space there is between the outer edge of your rim and the sharp horizontal fender lip?

I called Axis today and asked what I thought was a failry simple question, I asked if he could give the the available offset sizes for the 19x10.5" and the 19x9.5" Hiro's with the 5x114 bolt pattern obvisouly. Was funny, as soon as I said 10.5" Hiro's he said, oh a 350 Z huh? LOL seriously.

He seemed as though he was more interested in trying to impress me with his knowlege of wheel and tire combo's for the Z rather than to answer my question. Gee I've only been researching the wheel and tire combo for the last 2 months now, I probably know more about tire fitment and sizes than he does. However I admit I am somewhat clueless when it comes to offsets but I'm learning.

I am going to run one of two wheel options.

#1 8.5" front with a 235/35/19 and a 10.5" with a 295/30/19.

Yes that's right a 235 not a 245, I would be happy to explain why but I'm busy right now.

or

#2 The standard 8.5" front with 245/35/19 and 9.5" 275/35/19 rear.

He tried telling me about running a 9.5" in the front and 10.5" in the rear with 265/30's in the front and 295/30's in the rear. Sure that's the max rubber you could have but I don't like the looks of the 9.5's in the front (front lip is too big for my taste) and I don't want to spend 3 grand a year on tires.

After listening to the guy go on and on about stuff I already knew I finally just asked him point blank, will a 295/30/19 fit the Z on the 10.5" Hiro rim?

He said yes that's about the biggest you can run but he didn't sound really certain but said it should be ok but then quckly asked if the car was lowered. car? what car LOL not yet.

Anyway, if somebody could get me that measurement I would appreciate it thanks!!

Don't everbody answer all at once LOL.

This may have to be one of those things where I just either take a chance and go for it and hope for the best or don't and go with the 8.5" and 9.5" setup.

I can hear the theme music to the game show Jepordy playing in my head right now.

Actually I talked myself out of going with a 10.5" rear.

The only real reason I was wanting to go with the 10.5" was purely cosmetic (wide lip). Didn't really care that I would be running a nice fat 295 rear, which is kind of a cool bonus but that was just so it would fit the rim better. Everything else said to me, dood just use the 9.5", so I am.

To use the 10.5"'s and the 295/30's would cost me about $450 more in just those two 295/30 tires and the two 10.5"'s rims than just using the more conserative 8.5" and 9.5" setup. Yes could just use a 275/35 on the 10.5" but it's just way too streched for me.

I am going to be putting a lot of miles on the Z and will probably go thru 3 sets of rears in the first year alone. Also going to drop it a little most likely 1" all around or maybe the Hotchkins and if I end up with any feathering issues I'd prefer it to be on more affordable tires.

Everytime I see the pics of the guy with his new 9.5" Hiro's on his blue Z with the 25 offset, I freakin drool.

I'm not too sure but I highly doubt your car can tuck a 295 tire w/o rolling the fender on a 10.5 rim. I have to roll my fender with my offset with my 275 tire when I decide to lower my car.

Hey, don't get any drool on My new rims with my drop and 275/35 I only have about 1/4 inch clearance. If i went with a wider tire I bet I would have to cut or roll my fenders. I bet you could get away with the 295/30 on the 10.5 but it would be very tight, and your stager would be all messed up if you Have VDC.

LOL yes, sometimes I think outloud and answer my own questions. Sometimes it helps if I post it, see how silly it sounds then come to my own conclusion:-P

And I wont stop drooling until I have my own on my own Z HA!

Chad I think its about time you bought one. make a fantasy become reality !
i`m curious when you called Axis up , were you calling to better gain knowledge as you don`t have a 350Z or for sh**s & giggles ?
I actually read your thread and called a buddy of mine who works there and he said that you actually spoke to the owner. As he comes up with all the offsets and bolt patterns I really doubt that he was unsure of himself, maybe it was all in your head !
FYI ... You can actually run a 295/30 in the rear without rubbing ! We do it all the time.

Chad, why not a 285 instead of a 295 on the 10.5?

285 with a 30 series sidewall wouldnt be large enough to keep vdc happy when used in conjuction with a 245/35 front tire. at least thats what why i think he's going for 295 instead of 285. i could be horribly wrong

You could if you wanted too. It would fit better than a 275. The 295 would fit better than a 285 but neither one of those 2 sizes will have the correct OD anyways.
