3 Piece Wheel Reconditioning
I need to have my 3 piece SSR GT3 wheels reconditioned. The outer rim needs the clearcoat removed, and a good polishing. I wish there was no clear coat on them so I could just use some metal polish to shine them up. The clear coat didn't even last a year before it faded and clouded. No I don't use wheel cleaner.
Does anyone know who will take apart 3 piece wheels and polish them?

Just make it a weekend project and go at it yourself. Polishing aluminum is tedious, but definitely not hard. Just get some wetsand paper and a good jar of mother's mag polish. Keep in mind though, with the clear coat gone... the metal will need to be polished monthly.

Luckly there are few other wheel repair shop with in 30 min from my area.
The place I would recomend is Mag Masters in Santa Ana, CA even though its further from me. Wheels America is literally 5-7 min from my house.

About a month ago, my brother took his 19" SSR Agle Strusse that he just bought used from a guy at Acura TL forum and got all 4 wheels repaired for $400. $100 for each wheel. The great thing was, they finshed it in 1 day.
Here is what they did.
We droped off the car at 9:00 am.
-They dismounted the wheels off car, took tires off the wheel
-Disassembled all 4 wheels since they are 3 piece
-fixed all the curb rash on 3 wheels
-repaired bends on 2 of the wheels
-polished all 4 wheels (lips)
-Reassembled the wheels back together silling it with silicone
-Put the wheels back on the tires
-Remountied and balanced.
By 2:30 pm, they called me and said it was done.
Here are some pic of the wheels on the Acura TL after being repaired.
Sorry, no close up pic since I took the pic at night.

This is all wonderful news... but the guy still lives in Florida. Now you want him to risk shipping them and getting them damaged? What about the shipping cost... $100 is a good deal per wheel but now add in the shipping cost and risk of getting them damaged I dont think its such a great deal. I think someone local or in the same state could probably do a refinish job just fine. There is no need to go through all this to strip and polish a wheel.
I have a set of BBS racing wheels (not street version). I don't know what type of support SSR provides, but BBS told me exactly how to do the dis/assembly on my wheels. It's not difficult, just time consuming. My experience was that there were plenty of places willing to charge for this service, but it's just too simple not to do yourself... and they didn't share that with me. After calling the manufacturer, I was glad I did.
