Default Spacers on Track edition wheels?

I have an 2004 enthusiast edition and I am about to buy some 18" track edition wheels. I was wondering if anyone on here has put spacers on these wheels to make them fill up the wheel well a little better? If so, what size? Did it improve or worsen the handling characteristics of the car? Do you need any other pieces besides the actual spacers or is it in like a kit form?

Any help is appreciated. I am buying the track edition wheels tomorrow.

Thanks,
Vince

Thanks, I'll give Jason a call.

Anyone else with a setup like this care to comment?

5 or 10 mm spacers will work, but I don't see how they will fill up the well: they will just move the wheels farther toward the fenders. On a $30,000 car, I would prefer to do the job properly, that is, wheels with the correct offset. Spacers put stress on components such as wheel bearings because the weight is farther from the mounting surface.

Exactally. When I said fill out the wheel well I was referring to the side to side not top to bottom. I just want the wheel in line with the fenders instead of tucked in like the way it is stock. I don't want aftermarket wheels, cause I am sick of them (I am currently selling my 19's). I want to be as low key as possible and plus I do not want to auto-x on 19's. Thanks for your comments though, anyone else?

I have 15mm front and 25mm rear spacers. They fit pretty flush, with the camber, it sits a little inward, if you had more agressive tires on there, it looks like it might rub. Looks pretty flush, but there is still some room there.

Handling wise, after I installed front spacers, the steering wheel felt "loose." Not sure why. . .i think it feels like it understeers a tad more, but I dont push my car very hard either, so I'm not qualified to say so. . .

I'll try and get some pics tonight.

I made 1/2" spacers for the front and 5/8" for the rear. Sorry for the SAE maesurements. ANyway I'm running 265/35s and 275/40s ontrack wheels. the tires tuck maybe 1/4" from the top of the fender, looks way better than stock IMO. I had the material laying around and chucked up int he lathe and just made them. I installed 50mm studs up front and 60mm studs in back. Also went with open ended Al lug nuts. If I had to do it over again I would do 60 MM studs up front too.

I run 25mm rear and 23mm front.

Just go for 25mm front and rear.. I used 23mm because I already had it.

Anybody have any pics? Also, does it affect the handling at all?

Thanks,
Vince

my H&R 25mm spacers on my g35coupe...

they are no more harmful on the suspension/driveline, than rims with the same offsets.....

as for handling.... i lowered my car at the same time so it hard for me to say exactly if widening the track had any effect, but from everything I've read, the wider & lower you make your car, the handling improves.

I've done a couple of hsde schools & many, many auto-crosses, and I do notice a slight improvement in handling. Or maybe I'm getting better
