Default Update: American Racing Wheels

Well, despite the opinions of some members on my previous post, I had to take advantage of this $1,900 wheel and tire package which included 20" chrome American Racing wheels (20x8.5 and 20x10"), 275/35/20 and 245/35/20 Hankook tires, shipping, mounting, switching the TPS out from the stock rims to the new ones, balancing, hub rings and installation. I removed the American racing logo from the wheels so now the center caps are just plain and I am very happy with the look. It was exactly what i was looking for, big chrome wheels for my touring and the price was right. Heres some pics of the wheels on the car, the car is lowered 1" all around with Eibach Pro Kit.

Personally i think they're too "Blingy" If i were you and were stuck with those rims, i think i'd clean up the exterior i.e. shaving emblems, side markers, blah-blah. Even then it will still look "blingish" but have that certain look. (sorry too tired to choose better words) Well if you like them, thats all that matters.

Oh yea, time for a BBK...

Well chrome is not my cup of tea and I thought chrome has gone out of style a long time ago. Personally I think those would go better on blinging SUV's but since you like it, then it's all good.. get ready to clean the brake dust off the chrome..

Not too bad especially for that price. So is it "chromed" or "polished"? Polished is much better for you since it has the same look but without the extra weight. All you need now is a nice kit & some BBK's to put everything together. I have polished 20" wheels myself & once I slapped on a kit, it brought the look together. Meaning it doesn't make the wheels look so big. You can click on my sig link for pics to see what I'm talking about. I'll be getting my BBK's installed in a few weeks.

it has nothing to do with a " New York " thing. I doubt everyone in NY is driving a Z with 20' inch chrome wheels on a Z. those wheels look they should be on a SUV and not a Z but like posted above to each their own. If you like the look then rock them and be happy.

That is great that you are getting compliments on them and you are happy with them which is what matters. My question is who and what type of people are complimenting you? Just more curious than anything.

Personally, I think you have to choose a direction with the car. Painted red OEM calipers (racer look?) then bling chromies? Gotta choose a direction and run with it

the car came with the calipers painted red. the wheels weigh 28lbs which is 2lbs more then the stock touring wheels. there are few wheels I liked and these were one of my favorites, I've seen a lot worse. I just don't see how some of you think they're so bad on a z. I'm going in the direction of a sporty luxury look for my car. I will never go to a track nor do I race. I am 22 and this is a daily driver car for me

I know people are entitled to do what they choose but when I see something like that, I just feel sick. If you wanted a luxury cruiser, a Z is not a car for you. Get a G35. But anyways that my opinion. Good Luck with it though.

As someone above stated, those wheels look like they should be on a Suburban or an Escalade, not a Z
