New rims need tires... Help
I just purchased the Work Emotion XD9. They are 18x9+20 and 18x10+18 and I am lowered with Tanabe GF210's. I was thinking 245/40 and 275/40 but didn't know if i would be able to go with 285/40 w/o rolling my fenders. Or if a 35 profile would be the better way to go.

Stock 225-45-18 (25.9 inches) 245-45-18 (26.6 or 26.7 inches)
9" width wheels on 245-40-18 (25.7 or 25.8 inches) will have minor stretched look
9" width wheels with 255-40-18 (26 or 26.1 inches) will NOT have stretched look
10" width wheels on 275-40-18 (26.7 inches) will have minor stretched look
10" width wheels on 285-40-18 (27 inches) will NOT have stretched look
I personally would go with 245-40-18 for the front and 275-40-18 for the rear.
*This set up will give you a minor stretched look on both front and rear . *Diameter fo the tires are close to OEM specs.
*More selection of tires and better price
2nd option will be 255-40-18 for the front and 285-40-18 for the rear.
*This will give you NON-Stretched on both front and rear.
*Diameter of the tires are close to OEM specs (Little over size)
*255's and 285's Not many selection of tires and price are little more expensive
*Fatter looking tires.
If you mix, either front or rear will have stretched look and the other will not.
I think 245-40-18 & 275-40-18 are perfect if you are going with 18's

i think im gonna go with either:
255/35/18 25.0 inches
275/35/18 25.6 inches
or
255/35/18 25.0 inches
285/35/18 25.9 inches
L337350 is running 245/40 and 275/40 and has a little rubbing, plus it looks like a lot of tire. I am probably going to run the 255/35 285/35 set up what do you all think? should not rub and be able to have a wider tire in the front and rear unless i would have a gap with a 1" drop in the front and 1.2" drop in the back

275/35/18 25.6 inches

I just got the rims today. With the tires i ordered, 255/35 and 285/35 that they aren't going to be big enough. I haven't seen any pics of a tire set up like this so i worried. Probably going to return the tires and get 245/40 and 275/40. this the best thing to do?

255-35-18 is 25 inches and 285-35-18 is 25.9 inches.
The diameter of the tires are too small. Thats why no one has that set up.
I would have gone with 245-40-18 and 275-40-18. You should have listen to me.

Here's a pic of the car on FK451 with 245/40 and 275/40 on 18x9, 18x10 rims just like yours. The rear tires are 1.3", that's more than 1 1/4 inches bigger than the front.
The front is a tad stretched, and so is the rear. If I had to do it over, I'd get 285/35 for the rears for a smaller sidewall height, and the sizes of the front won't look too much different than the rears. Right now, it's too obvious that the rear tire sidewall height is bigger, even though Nismo does recommend this setup with their LMGT4. The rears are going to be .3" bigger than the front, which is about the same stagger as the Stock Bridgestone RE-40, which is .4" bigger than the front (important if you have TCS).
Now, the newer FK452 sizes are just very slightly different. The outside diameter for the FK452 245/40 is 25.7" which is only .1" bigger than the FK451, but is closer to the stock size of 25.9" for the Bridgestones. The 275/40 is 26.6", this time that's .1" smaller than the FK451, but again, is closer to the stock size of 26.3" of the Bridgestones. The 285/35 is 25.9", same as the older FK451. Going 245/40 and 285/35 with the FK452s would have the front .2" smaller than the front. The difference from stock would be .2" too small for the front, and .4" too small for the rear. That's only a 0.778% difference for the front, and 1.544% difference for the rear.
Truly though, getting the closest sizes of stock while not getting too much buldge or stretch would make you walk the Toyo T1R path, though it's a little more expensive. Their 255/40 tires for the front is 25.9", which is same as stock!!! Running the 255/40 will eliminate the slight stretch of running a 245/40 up front. The 275/40 is 26.5" which is only .2" bigger than stock, that's less than a quarter inch bigger (if you don't know decimals). Toyo's 245/40 is the same size as the FK451 at 25.6". Another size to look for is 295/35 which is 26" in diameter, which is only .3" smaller than stock; but ultimately, rubbing and rolling of fender must be considered.
With all the suggested sizes above, they all would retain some stagger is overall diameter size. Remember, stock size difference between front and rear diameter is .4", but Nismo does recommend 245/40 and 275/40 which is over an inch difference in size.... if you have TCS.
Sorry for being so THOROUGH AND PRECISE, and writing this (dumbing it down) so a 10 year old can understand it. Somtimes, writing can be misinterpreted (read in a different way).

thanks ctwenty two, when i was looking at tire sizes i over looked the size of 285/35. I kept thinking it was .1" smaller then the front, i was looking at 275/35. I am going to change my order on the fronts and keep the rears. Once again thanks!

I think technically you shouldn't go for 285/35/18 rear. The only time I would use 35 profile on an 18" would be like 295...
It's kinda a close call, but 285/40/18 is closer to factory spec

Stock Bridgestone RE40 235/50/17 has an Ouside Diameter size of 26.3"
Falken FK452 275/40/18 has an outside diameter of 26.6"
Difference= .3" bigger than stock
Falken FK452 285/35/18 has an outside diameter of 25.9"
Difference= .4" smaller than stock
So, going 285/40/18, you'd be going bigger than the 275/40/18 (26.6",) which is already more than a quarter inch bigger than stock.
Some other members with 18x9, 18x10 wheels agree that when they change their tires, they'll run a 245/40, 285/35 setup. Of course, arguments on going with a much wider tire on the rear will cause more understeer, but not a majority of us will track or autox the car.
A 245/40, 285/35 with the 452 will be more aesthetically pleasing, while remaining somewhat in stock spec.

I still say 245-40-18 for the front and 275-40-18 for rear is the best way to go.

All I know is skinny sidewall tires in the rear of the Z look awful. Gives you a huge gap.
