Tire pressure light came on
Yesterday I was driving down the interstate, on my way to finish up that awful Christmas shopping, and a yellow flashing light that looks like an exclamation point caught my eye next to the tachometer. I pulled over and got out the owner's manual because I didn't want to risk it being anything seriously wrong with my car. According to the manual it can be several things, but I am pretty sure it's due to my PSI sensor. When I scrolled through to look at my tire pressures, the car reads nothing for the rear tires. Is the sensor malfunctioning?
I guess I will have to take it in for service, it's almost time for my first oil change anyway. However, I'm sure I will have to wait until after Christmas.
Anyone else had this happen to them?

If it's snowing or freezing cold in Atlanta then your losing some pressure then your in a pickle dick. If your sensor is'nt reading then the fairlady isn't working! Take it to service and get a nice spaw treatment for her... plus, you might wanna buy a pressure checking thingy so you can go out and check the tires yourself. Incase the sensors don't work again
Wheel sensors =
, Always issues with them. they are very sensitive, meaning if you go a tiny bit above the pressure or below they warn you. By this time next year by law all new cars will have wheel sensors..... get used to them. just keep your tires in the 33-38 range. You should be fine. 35 for normal cars gives you the best overal wear and ride.
OMG thank god this thread came up cuz i had a question. i fill mine up to 32-34psi, and in about 1 week then go down to 28psi and then stop. i fill them back up to 32-34psi and in a week it goes down to 27-28psi again. thers no leaks cuz they dont even deflate.
i was thinking its the weather getting colder (not much colder here in AZ) but they stay good for a week and then drop like 8 psi then stop. WTF

A well maintained tire rim combo should only drop 1 psi a month at the most what you have is bead leak. A leak where the bead of the tire sits on the rim. Take it to a tire show have them spray it down or drop it into a tub. Its not a leak around the valve stem or a nail because it would keep deflaiting till it was flat. If its dropping down to that then stopping ill put money on it that its a bead leak. If its not a bead leek it just could be the tires going from cold to hot from the friction of driving.Good luck

My stock wheels/tires were stolen, and the pressure sensors supposedly went with them. For some reason I'm still getting the pressure warning, although without the pressure readouts. I've been just ignoring it since my tire pressures are fine when I checked them manually.
Well if the car dosnt pick up the wheel sensors its going to throw a light on. And if the car dosnt have sesors to comunicate with the computer theres no way of getting rid of it. The light should go off auotmatcally after a while of driving after corecting the psi. Get used to the light if you dont have sensors anymore.
Allow me to clarify..
The pressure warning does not stay on at all time. It only comes on after a period of spirited driving - as it would when the pressure is building up. That's why it's interesting, because pressure sensors are supposedly gone.

One major problem with TPM systems is having chromies on the stems. They can corrode and adhere to the valve stems. This would make one use too much torque to remove the cap and cause damage to the TPM. Just something to keep in mind. I changed my chromies to plastics caps...that's why new cars even high-end cars with TPM's don't put chromies on their wheels anymore.

Your next door neighbor stole your wheels, that's why you're still getting a warning.
Yes you are corect, they are switching to plastic, but you should be ok, if you loosen them every once in a while as long as they have rubber inserts in the top of the cap to prevent moisture. also why they use nickle valve cores in tps instead of copper in the normal rubber ones because of corrosion issues, but if somone actually jacked his tps, the light will stay on because the computer isnt relaying with the tps.
Side note: every car from ferrari to daewoo will have tps by this time next year.

Yeah I had the light come on also here in AZ. I was driving and saw the light pop on so I looked in my owners manual. When I took the car in for an oil change they fixed it .. just air nothing. The Z is a sensitive car lol so when temperature change expect that. Since the tires dont need rotating and you have all 4 tire pressure indicator to monitor
. You have set your RPM light higher also so when your shifting it doesnt come on all the time.. Mines at 4100 rpm
