Default TPS Warning Light?!?!

I just changed my stock rims for some aftermarkets and decided not to follow the guides and putting in the TPS from the factory, just figured i'd measure the air the old fashioned way. Now i think i was driving to boomers last night and a warning light came up with a ! and what looks like a flat tire symbol sarrounding it, now if thats the light we get when the TPS is not in range or not detected then im fine it makes no noise, but is there a way to remove the warning light?!?!, i just like my dashboard to be nice and clean .

Install your TPS sensors, thats the whole reason to do it in the first place, so you don't get the light!

Nope, it's there forever and ever. Put the sensors back on the car if you want it to go away.

Yes. Either mount them the standard method (valve stem) or using the Banding method.

There's no way to disable the light that I know of. Dealer concurs although I'm sure they wouldn't say if there was a backdoor. You initially have to drive about 25+ miles before the light first comes on, and from that point (until you put the stock wheels with TPMS back on) the light is your friend.

The reason you can't disable it is because the federal law that mandates tire pressure monitoring prohibits manufacturers or repair shops from disabling a TPMS.

Last week I was watching car and driver tv, and I was surprised to hear that is illegal to remove the TPS from stock rims.
I bellive thats the reason you can't remove the TPS waning light, just like the seatbelts light.

You can probably find the TPMS light wire and cut it if it bothers you that much.

Not exactly, it's illegal for a manufacturer, dealer or shop to disable the TPMS. An individual CAN legally replace OEM wheels with some that don't have sensors. That's when you get the warning light. I'd guess it's there to serve as a reminder that your tire pressure is not being monitored and it's up to you to do it manually.
