OEM Wheel Modification Thread
So I had some free time over the holiday(and access to a garage) and wanted to do something to my z. I started with the carbon fiber vinyl lip, and it escalated from there.
I haven't had the cash for new wheels (and have been waiting for my summer tires to wear waer out) so I decided to look into the Plastidip option.
I did my youtube research and jumped right in. I added the red stripe to make it look like I didn't just spray paint my wheels and to give it a little detail. Not sure if anybody had done this combo yet, but hey it only cost me $16.
Still not convinced that I love it yet.
Thoughts?

Red brake calipers would really set it off. Buy some high temp paint from auto zone for like $6. I am going to warn you that you are going to get a lot of trash talk since you can't afford $1000 wheels so you plasti dipped yours as a cheap non permanent way of having black wheels.

2. Many of us don't like it because it looks cheap.. which it is, but that's not the point.
3. $1000 wheels are on the affordable side.
Fair enough. Yeah I mean I could probably afford it, but couldn't justify spending that much on wheels when I have other things to pay off, and there's nothing wrong with the current wheels or tires at the moment. Just wanted a little change.
I think the wheels look fine. The work on the wheels looks good and i like the bottom of the front bumper plasti dipped. I might do the same to protect it from snow.
If the dipped wheels are temporary while you put your money towards more important matters, then I'll applaud that. The irresponsible thing would have been to drop $3k+ on wheels when you have other bills to pay.
(And yes there is a designated thread for plasti-dip projects)

stated you added the red stripe so it doesnt look like you just spray painted the wheels but I gotta say the execution of the red stripe is horrible and makes it worse.
looks like you sprayed the red paint onto paper towel and just dabbed it all the way around.

Part of the reason I did it was because of existing curb rash! Also partly why the reason why the red line doesn't look so great in spots, it got bumpy...
Less talky, more pics.
Stock Nismo Rays
Powder Coated Lava (Semi-gloss) Black
Center cap removed
Varrstoen Lug Nuts
Nismo decals
Really makes the wheels look aftermarket / tunerish but yet still allows it to hold it's value as a stock part.
Pics are unprofessional...

Here's mine. Bought it a month ago and debating whether or not I want to swap in a set of black rims or if I should keep the gold setup for now. Currently thinking that I should spend my money elsewhere and begin the performance mods. What do you suggest?
