Default Front end lock up

As we all know these cars were made to corner. It was perfect for a while but now after I let my brother use it for a month it's done. If I take a S turn hard 40+ not pressing the brake I can feel the front end lock up. Its that intermittent lock up every second or two in that turn. Honestly it isn't a good feeling going that speed and getting thrown forward. Anybody else experience this of know what it could be. I'm going to take it to the dealership after another 550 miles but I'm curious now.

550 miles b/c I'm under an oil consumption test right now. I burn 2.5 to 3 quarts every 2500 miles.

Take it in now, you could have a serious problem. Your tech should be smart enough to do a lil bit of math to figure out what your oil consumption would have been in another 550 miles.

That sounds like your friend, Mr. VDC, is kicking in. At that low speed, unless it's a really tight S-turn it probably shouldn't be happening.

Do you have aftermarket wheels/tires? If so, post what size.

stock wheels and rims..... The slip light does come on but the tires arn't even making a noise in the turn or slipping out. Before I could get them to make a little noise and sometimes kick it out w/o a problem. Now its just weird.

as far as the oil I've only driven maybe 150 miles since they changed it

If the slip light came on and the brakes locked even though you weren't touching them - that is definitely VDC. The brakes don't actually lock, what you feel/hear is the brake ABS motor pulsing the brake.

Here's the description of how VDC works:

VDC Function AFS000ZF
In addition to the TCS/ABS function, the driver steering amount and brake operation amount are detected from the steering angle sensor and pressure sensor, and the vehicle's driving status (amount of understeering / over-steering) is determined from information from the yaw rate sensor/side G sensor, wheel sensor, etc., and this information is used to improve vehicle stability by controlling the braking and engine power to all four wheels.
The SLIP indicator lamp flashes to inform the driver of VDC operation.
During VDC operation, the body and brake pedal lightly vibrate and mechanical noises may be heard. This is normal.
The ABS warning lamp, VDC OFF indicator lamp, and SLIP indicator lamp might turn on when the vehicle is subject to strong shaking or large vibration, such as when the vehicle is on a turn table or a ship while the engine is running. In this case, restart the engine on a normal road, and if the ABS warning lamp, VDC OFF indicator lamp, and SLIP indicator lamp turn off, there is no problem.

thanks for the info. However, why does it do it now whereas it never did it before in the same turn?

Maybe the tires are worn more and it has increased the tendency to slip. Same goes for the road surface - it might be dustier, oilier...

I'd suspect both if your brother drove it that long along with the change in the weather. Of course that is with the assumption you have VDC, not just traction control.

it does have the vdc....If i turn it off that should eliminate it right? The tires do have 20,000 miles on them (fronts). Just replaced the rears and had an alignment done b/c of abnormal wear on the rear.

Also, when just driving around windows down, I can hear a squeaking noise coming from the passenger front area. My car is an 05 35th anniversary

Definitely try turning it off to zero in on the problem. You will lose a safety factor, but the Base, Enthusiasts, and most automatics don't have VDC anyway.

Well, turning it off will eliminate the operation of VDC, but if it's kicking in because of a potential unsafe condition you risk losing control. Test that theory carefully
