After seeing the JUN Z on the cover of Super Street I kinda like the look of the gold Advans on the yellow Z. Given I am looking for wheels, I'm pretty set on black or gunmetal, but would the gold/bronze look bad against yellow?

That car has a few things that a stock Z does not which makes the gold and yellow work together without the gold washing out the yellow.
First, the car is not stock Ultra Yellow -- it looks like a Ferrari yellow or a color that GM used to have for God knows what (which, incidentally, I had on my '87 Celica in high school).
Second, they have black canards, hood scoop things, spoiler, front of the side panels on the kit, etc. The black adds enough of a contrast to the yellow so that they can pull off the gold.
Third, their tires appear new or almost new. When they turn less than perfectly black, the whole thing will start to looks severely tacky.
Finally, they have a very aggressive body kit, spoiler, etc. and the car is really low. Which helps pull off the risky color combination.
For you, black, gunmetal, silver or chrome. (or some of these newfangled hyper-black, black-chrome, etc.)
