If you have the bucks, go for Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. $217/ea at Tire Rack.
If you are on a budget, I recommend Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-2. $169/ea at Tire Rack.

If you have the money to spend, get the Michelin PS2 instead of an all-season tire.

Nothing wrong with the RE050's, maybe he's worn them out.

yeah, the all-season tires seem pointless. Go for the ultra-high performance since you're not on budget.

If you're not on a budget, then any of the tires on the post above yours. nuff said.
Michelin Pilot Ps2 are great, but the Goodyear F1 Gs-d3 beat it in the tire test/review.

tirerack has them 117 before shipping.
high performance and also can be driven in light snow with treadwear 380.
