Default Tire stretch question

I'm planning on stretching 245/40/18 on 18x10.5. What do I need to get an equivalent stretch on a 18x8.5 (I was thinking 215/40/18).

For two inches less, you would want 50mm off so that would be a 195.

I don't think that exists, so 205 or 215 should be fine.

Are people so poor that once they buy wide rim they can't afford new tires and have to stretch the OEM ones?

I don't get the whole stretching thing...

that is a risky, unecessary stretch. On a 10.5 rim you shouldn't be running anything less than 275..... +1 on blowing a tire out or rolling the whole tire off the rim. Good luck with things....

A 245 mm tire on a 10.5 inch wheels looks cool until it falls off. Keep a camera in the car so you can post photos.

cuz you know....blowing stretched tires off beads happes o so much

although, if you wanna actaully keep some performance on a z, you'd want a 18x9 at least in the front with a 235 to keep the stretched look.

The incidence of tires blowout from Firestone was statistically the same as with any other SUV tire manufacturer. It didn't prevent people from freaking out didn't it ?

Stretching that much is a safety issue. I doub't anybody can seriously argue with that... Anybody with minimal mechanical background anyway...

Why don't you stick the 245 on the 8.5 wide rims & find a wider tire for the 10.5 rims.

This is 235/40/18 on a 18x10
Personally I think it looks sick. I'm not planning on tracking or street racing.

Anybody have pics of 215/40 on a 8.5-9?

Thanks

I saw stretched tires like that on a Gti the other day. I don't get it, it doesn't look cool just that either 1. you spent all the money on rims 2. think tires are "one size fits all"

nice fitment!

i think if you don't track or race, it really doesn't matter if it's stretched. not everyone here drag's their cars.

im running a 225/35 on a 19x10 and a 245/40 on a 19x11. thats just how i like it though

Wow that looks like something you would see in Lowrider Mag. Now all you need is a Gold club statue for the back window.

w3rd!

the stretched look is awesome! I'm finally getting the tires this friday for my Work Equips; 245/35R19 on the front 19x10.5" and 275/30R19 for the rear 19x11.0"

hayai240sx, I think 205 will do well for the front 8.5", but why not get wider front wheels? 8.5" is too conservative on the Z!
