Default Enkei Raijin display

Got my Enkei Raijin from TopSpeedAutoSport. Not sure if someone has post the wheel pics, just give a look for those who might be interested in Raijin.
Car:
2003 base

Rim:
F: 18x8.5 +35 Black
R: 18x9.5 +15 Black

Tires:
F: Nitto NT555 245/40/18
R: Nitto NT555 275/40/18

In my case - front wheel need spacers(I use 15mm), the rim will touch the upper control arm without seating on spacer. And it's better to roll the rear fender since the tires will slightly rub the fender when the car drive on the bumpy road in relatively high speed.

Crap. I was thinking about putting the same thing (but RPF1's) on the rears of mine but do not want to if they're going to rub. Might have to go with a 265 tire.

Is yours on stock suspension?

About five minutes ago I placed an order for a set of four RPF1 18x9.5 +15 in black.

Still conflicted about tire size. I want to go square and I do not want to roll fenders, add spacers or have to make camber adjustments for fitment. So I'll probably start with 265/40/18 tires to begin with. They'll wear out fast enough at the track so if they have plenty of room, I'll step up to 275/40/ or 275/35 all around.

I've searched this thread and others and there is conflicting information about whether the 275/40 or 275/35 will rub without mods.

Questions:

1) For you guys with RPF1s, did you have to get longer wheel studs?
2) The place I purchased from does not include centering rings. Anyone know a good source for those? Plastic or aluminum?

Pics will follow once I get it all bolted up. Probably a couple of weeks. Will also be putting Carbotech track pads on. Can't wait to get on the track five pounds lighter per corner!

I just installed my 18x9.5 +15 RPF1's in gunmetal.

Went with 265/40 Hankook RS-3's square and so far no rubbing with minimal camber up front (-1-1.4), I'll be at Putnam Park this upcoming weekend so I'll let you know if I run into any issues driving the car hard. Once I can get more camber (either using arms, offset bushings, or lowering the car more) then I'll go up to 275/35's. From what I heard from reputable members, 275/35 will rub the fender with less than -2.0 camber on the 18x9.5 +15 rpf1.

1) I did not need longer studs, I am using McGard Spline Lugs and everything fit well
2) I am not using centering rings either. Although when I installed the wheel I tried my best to move the wheel around and get it centered correctly while turning the lugs. Drove up to 90mph with no vibrations.

Youd only need extended studs if you use a slip spacer larger than 5mm

Many online shops carry the rings. Plastic is cheap and easy to install but may melt at the track. Aluminum will keep its shape but they have tight tolerance making them difficult to remove/install at times.

Sorry to revive an old thread but I just bought some RPF1s and will be getting a set of centering.

My concern is what type to get. I'll be tracking the car and the front wheels get super hot. Which type will be less likely to melt? Plastic or aluminum?

Has anyone had a problem with them melting?

Based on life experience, Im pretty sure plastic is less likely to melt. Also, I answered your questions in the enkei thread. Perhaps keep all your questions consolidated to one instead of spamming them everywhere?

Aluminum melts at 1200+ F, polycarbonate around 350 give or take. Dont need track experience to know plastic will melt sooner than metal. Its not space age stuff.

Actually, polycarbonate is pretty much space age by definition. And it softens above 300F. Does not flow until well above 500F.

My rotors are sometimes over 350F when coming off the track. Probably much hotter during braking.

But, your point is correct. If aluminum melts at 1200 that is certainly better.

I run plastic , and go thru a set of rings once and a while. Much easier than dealing with aluminum.

Darn, I have a set of those for sale! I ran 285/35/18 RS3s on them, but only because they were a steal for a new set. They run large, but "it worked". Before I had them, they rubbed on a buddy's car (less aggressive camber than me) with 275/35 fronts and 275/40 rears. The fronts were the problem. For street/track, I'd get a new set of 265/35/18 RS3s all around and be done with it.
