Cool My gunmetal Iforgeds on Lemans Z

Finally, after what seemed an eternity to get my wheels (@12 weeks) and even an eternity to get my tires (although only a week), I got them mounted on the car this past friday.

Wheels:
Front: IForged Flux in 19x8.5 w/ 2.5" lip with 245/35-19s Falken tires
Rear: IForged Flux in 19x10 w/3" lip with 285/35-19s Falken tires

I ordered the wheels on the first IForged groupbuy. The pictures were taken at a car show on Saturday and the trophy was for top 35. Three other fellow club members also won top 35 (Chevy S10 pickup, 94 Pontiac Grand Prix, & 99 Mustang) and another member won best import (Impreza 2.5RS).

Wheel Quality
Excellent to say the least. The finish, paint quality, and build of these wheels are equal to all the HRE, Forgeline, Kensis, and Fikse wheels I've ever seen. The quality of the wheels exceeds that of Volk & Racing Hart wheels I've owned. The guys who I got my tires through and mounted them that deal with all the big name wheels also agreed these are front runners in quality.

Tire Quality
First off I have to say I wanted Toyo T1-S tires like nothing else (by far my favorite street tire) and was heart broken when I found I couldn't get them for 3-6 weeks. My tire dealer garunteed that I'd like the Falkens enough to keep them or I could exchange them for T1-Ss when they come in.

The Falkens actually did exceed my expectaions (which were quite low) for wet and dry grip. I hate getting my Z wet but with two car shows this weekend it was inevitable. Their dry grip is equal to Bridgestone S03 PPs although not quite to T1-S or SO2 levels. Their wet grip exceeds S02 levels although isn't quite S03 PP or T1-S levels. Since I don't typically drive the car much in rain, I won't worry about it like I would on my other cars. At the limit of traction the tires have a fairly decent break away (very linear in nature) and makes driving at the limit (which btw is way higher then stock RE040 levels) very easy. Overall I think the Falkens are a good middle of the road front runner in my top 5 tire choices and I'll keep these till their toast since I'll have some RA-1 race tires on stock wheels.

IForged Experience
Overall it was quite decent. I placed the order and within a week I contacted Vince to ensure it was recieved. After 8 weeks, I gave Vince a call and he informed me they were at the painters and it would be a few more weeks. Vince called me twice over the next 3 weeks to let me know where they were. After the third week, Vince again called me and let me know they shipped. A week later they arrived.

My only two suggestions to Vince are as follows. 1. Let us know sooner on if they will go past the 6-8 week typically build time. 2. Follow directions. I put on my order sheet to please fax a confirmation of the order which never happened. I'm not sure if that was due to my call after the first week or not, but in hindsight I did realize I never recieved the fax.

I'll post more pictures later after it stops raining and I can detail my car again (at the show on saturday it wasn't spotless due to the rain the night before at the previous show).

Looks sweet. I got a call from Vince on Friday that my wheels were going to be shipping that day. I have no complaints about iForged to this point. I ordered my wheels at the end of April in the second groupbuy and if I get the wheels at the end of this week it'll make it 7 weeks from date of order which is better than I expected.

I also want the Toyo tires and will start looking this week. Based on your comments, looks like I won't be succesful finding in stock what I want.

Good luck with your wheels.

Great choice!!!

That is my favorite combo in the IFORGED rims. You can't go wrong with a gunmetal center and a polished lip. I'm looking at the G-Games for the same reason.

Looks good, I got my wheels on the first GB, they took about 7 weeks to get, overall I feel about like you. I still have not mounted the wheels, for the same reason, I wanted Toyo T1-S's also. Needless to say after 2 months, I finally ordered S-03's 2 days ago.

Anyway, nice wheels, love the gunemetal on LS.

vics - If you start looking now you might find some, it's hard to say. I only go through two places for tires (excellent connections at each) and neither could get them. As a matter of fact, the falken's were the only tire I could get inside of a weeks time through my connections.

damen - yeah it took a while and I had no problems waiting for it. If I knew before I ordered it would have taken 12 weeks, I still would have ordered them. Hell I would have waited 16 weeks to get them at the price I did as long as I knew up front.

durobred - I believe the fronts are around 22-24lbs and the rears are 24-26lbs.

Everyone else, thanks for the kind words .

The look sweet.

I got my Iforged wheels last week. They also are gunmetal with a polished lip. Won't post pics until I get my car(10 days) and a digicam.

I got the 5 spoke aeros in 20's and they should look tight on the Diamond Graphite G35 coupe.

Can't wait!

Not on my Lemans, however, your Lemans looks pretty good man! I personally don't like gunmetal on the lemans - looks too... I don't know. Doesn't complement the paint well to me.

Great Review!!!

3rdpower - The reason I like the gunmetal on Lemans is that it doesn't detract from the color of the paint (I was planning gunmetal or polished but when I saw the HRE Z outside at SEMA in Nov 02 I knew gunmetal was the only color for my Z). Too me the subtle gunmetal wheels actually enhance the beautiful color of LS as your eyes are not drawn away too some polished wheels. A couple friends said the same thing, bad *** wheels but you can't see them right away, which is what I wanted. I want people to notice my Z, not my wheels . Don't get me wrong, I love polished or brushed wheels, but on my LS Z I wanted something subtle. The large polished lips gets the attention I need. If I had red, the silvers, DB, PP White, or Brickyard I'd have a polished or brushed finish in a second. Too each his own because all Zs are beautiful .
