Default getting new wheels need help.

Hey everyone,
I am in the market for buying a set of new wheels looking at the lmgt4's in silver (possib white???) on my mb 06. now i have questions about aggressive fitment. no matter what wheels im getting im going with 9.5f and 10.5r just not sure about offsets. for the lmgt4s i am looking to get the +12f and +15r offset. I am wondering if anyone knows if i will have any problems with such an aggressive fitment. I mean is the lower offsets purely for looks or is there advantages/disadvantages. will they clear stock and bbk kits? and i know rear fenders will need to be rolled and plan on gettin the spc rear camber kit. Also not sure about 18's or 19's because my stock 18's look big enough right now and i think 19's might look dumb. speacially if i plan to get some springs and drop it like .6". can anyone recommend tire setups for these sizes, lets say 18x9.5f and 18x10.5r. i want a tiny bit of the stretched look. so probably one size smaller then the normal size tire for the rim. so yah just wanted to know if i should know anything about getting these low offset wheels if it matters? its a daily driven car and id like to possibly take it to the track a couple times would this offset be stupid for the track?..so yah lotsa questions throw in your two cents
thanks

You should be fine, depending on what camber and tire sizes you plan to run. If you go with 245/35/19 & 275/35/19, you'll be just fine.

I think if someone is new to the Z and this Forum, and wants to replace stock tires and wheels:

1) Search here (for hours… and I mean this literally) to see advice, nice pictures of wheel and tire setups, and personal experiences with various setups… posted by generous and helpful members on my350z.com.

2) Read the Marketplace>Vendor Classified forum to get an idea of what is available.

3) When you finally gather the plethora of information here and decide to make the purchase, your best source is one of our great vendors on my350z.com. Our vendors know the Z best, making them your best choice for a purchase.

I’m also planning to mount aftermarket wheels and doing the research here to find the best solution. I share your dilemma: choosing between 18” or 19” wheels. Like you, I am in a cold area where roadways get significant ridges and potholes coming off the winter months.

Currently I have 17” wheels (I use these with snow tires for winter driving) and 18” wheels that I drive the rest of the year with summer/performance tires. I’ve driven the Z with 19” wheels, but that was someone else’s car that I was test driving to see the difference (18” vs. 19” wheels) so my experience here is limited.

Personally (and this is just my opinion) I think 19” wheels look better (for the reason you mention), but I like the better ride and lighter weight of 18” wheels. Of course you can get the “fender fill” flush look with 18” wheels and tires; it’s just a matter of selecting the correct offset. Since I live in a cold climate and drive my car year around, I cannot roll my fenders to accommodate “over-sized” width tires (rolled fenders plus tons of road salt is a disastrous combination).

When you make your purchase and “get ‘em mounted,” please post the decision. Pictures would be great.

Subscribing….

im searching my *** off for some pics of the 18's on a car..but yeah the offsets for the 18s are 18x9.5+12front and 18x10.5+15rear. picking tires for these would be tricky to. to get the right look. im not that concerned about how the ride is..but yah roads around here are pretty bad in some areas. i had 24's on my suv with low pro tires and i had to drive slow. now especially if i wanna lower it and these roads with 19s even fenders rolled i can prolly expect some rubbage right. i just dont wanna get the 18s and be like ****...the 19s might have looked better. but its for sure that the 18s have the sickest concave. and im guessing with these offsets i will get the flush full look. definetly the flush look. and if lowering the car like .6-.8" maybe the 18's are best? i dont have a bodykit just mudgaurds oem spoiler and vsv1 lip. on my 06. so..what do u guys think? i will post pics..but it might be a while till i recieve the wheels ordering tomorrow so gotta hurry up and make a decision lol. if not tomorrow i prolli have to wait 2 months. if i order tomorrow wait 2 weeks. the pics will be garaged pics.

With those offsets you will have to roll your fenders. From my experience if you want to run the tire size of your choice and the camber of your choice without rolling your fenders (rather than being forced into running a tire and camber to make the wheels fit) your are stuck running something around a +25 to +28 offset on a 10.5" wheel. With a +15, you will need a stretched tire along with some excessive camber and still possibly have to roll your fenders to make them fit.

I have yet to see a 19" wheel that doesn't look oversized on a Z. In pics I think they look decent. In person every set I have seen looks almost comical IMHO..

Cool... Be sure to post pics when you install these.

It's still winter where you are, so I guess the installation won't happen for awhile yet? But, maybe you cannot wait and mount the wheels and tires immediately (indoors)?

^^ Mount ‘em, shoot ‘em, post ‘em…

If you’re anything like most members here, you won’t wait long to get the tires installed.

Still Subscribed…
