The quetion has been asked before, but i have not as of yet seen a clear answer. I have searched for days, and pm'd everyone i have seen on this forum that indicated they run a 245/45/18 on front, and have got 0 replies.

This is not a topic for other size front tires or vdc or tcs, as none of those things appy to me.

I would like to hear from people that actually run this size in the front or have at one point in time run these in the front. Pictures would be cool too.

If i do end up with these tires, they will be mounted on either factory 18"x8" touring or factory 18"x8" G35 coupe 7 spokes on all 4 corners (+30off on all).

idk if this is going to help any but just trying to be nice...

i run 245/40/18 on a 18x9.5" wheel with a +20 offset. Its more aggressive and I still have plenty of room to lower my car.

Its not exactly what you are looking for but maybe it will bring some comfort. I am pretty sure you are just fine.

 

appreciate it....The problem is, i have seen many times that 245/40's will fit, but the thing is, the 245/45 is .96" taller tire that the 40 series. It would be
.43" more diameter than my current tire, a 235/50/17 (no nasty comments on my fat tires) I feel it would be close from looking at the gap in the wheel well, but i just want a warm fuzzy on this.

 

Based on the info you gave, it should be fine, However, there's no substitue for mounting up and checking it physically. The tire calculator at www.1010tires.com can help a bit.

 

Yes it will fit, BTW you may not have TCS/VDC, but ABS is also affected by tire tize, and does act a little funny running a square setup.

 

I have worn out the tire calulators, i think i have most of the numbers memorized by this point, and yes, nothing like mounting it up and checking physically, too bad i will have already paid money out for tires at that point.

That is first i have seen about the abs acting up. What exactly does it do? I have run 235/50/17s on all 4 corners for last year nearly, only braked hard a time or 2, dont think in either case i got abs going.

OK… let’s get this thing answered once and for all.

The short answer (for those who do not want to read this long post): 245/45-18” works very well on the front of 350Z.
On to the long answer…

Since your question is about 18” wheels and tire sizing on the front, I will limit the beginning points of this discussion to these two issues (18” wheels and front tires only).

First of all, let’s look at what Nissan mounts on the 350z with stock/factory 18x8” wheels:
225/45-18” tires - Overall Diameter: 25.97 in (659.63mm)

Comparing the stock/factory tire size on the front to a 245/45-18”, this tire-size has these specifications:
245/45-18” tires - Overall Diameter: 26.68 in (677.67 mm)

The overall diameter difference is 2.6%, so it is within tolerance (less than a 3% difference).

That means you can mount 245/45-18” tires on the front without any problem, and that extends to reliable operation with VDC/TCS and ABS. And, you will not experience any problem with fender-interference or restrictive wheel-turn.

Additional points:

• An “all-square” setup consists of wheels that are the same diameter and width… same goes for the tires.
  
• The tires’ overall diameter on the rear must be at least the front tires’ diameter or greater. Never mount tires on the front that have a greater overall diameter than the rear tires. This would cause all sorts of problems with a car equipped with VDC/TCS, but even cars without these features could experience problems with ABS and other safety features.
  
• A popular “all-square” setup that some members use is 245/40-18”. However, this is not the size tires you want to use, especially if your car has VDC/TCS. Why? Because 245/40-18” is too short an overall diameter for the rears. If you go with an “all-square” setup, mount 245/45-18” on all corners.

And yes... I am speaking from personal experience (been there... done it).

Common substitution is 245/40R18 front and 275/40R18 on rears. While the 275s are a bit wide, but not THAT much too wide.
