245/40/18 and 275/40/18 questions...
I noticed in the "100 most common ?'s" that this setup is pretty common. What offset would be needed for the 245/40 and 275/40 combination for an 18" rim? I'm looking for optimal clearance on inside and outside of the top of the tire not necessarily what will make it flush with the fender. Also, will this all fit on a 9.5" wide rim, or is 10" more appropriate?
Note: Just want to go wider for daily street use, no tracking. And yes, I did many searches.

Fit is relevant to wheel width and offset. In extreme set-ups members might stretch tires on oversized wheels to get the wheel-tire combo under the car.
Find a member’s set-up that you like. Duplicate it. No need to reinvent the wheel. (I said a funny).

ill be running 18x8.5F 245/40/18 and 18x9.5R 275/40/18. +30 offset in the front and +35 offset in the rear. after i get my tires on ill measure to see what size spacers ill need to get them flush. if any1 has an idea of what size spacers ill need let me know.
Awesome, thats the kinda information i was looking for. Thanks guys, and i'll be waiting to hear more on yours, seekndestroy, when you get 'em in.

8.5, 9, & 9.5 are the most common wheel widths used to match 245/40 up front.
9.5, 10, & 10.5 are the most common wheels widths used to match 275/40 in the rear.
Generally, most people have a 1" wider wheel in the rear, because the rear tires are about an inch wider.
The offset you choose can vary. Most manufacturers only offer certain offsets for a wheel.
You'll have to see what other people have done and try to find wheels with similar offsets. I have a set of wheels that are 18x9 +18 and 18x10 +18 and it looks very good. I would highly recommend something similar.
Find some wheels you would like to buy, see what offsets are available in the widths you want, and use an offset calculator to see what will work for you.

Pictures are worth many words. Very nice post, i always wondered if this would work with stock wheels. I dig them too, but i'm also undecided on an aftermarket set. Is this front and rear pictured or just front, btw?
I went with 8.5 +25 offset wheel for the front using 245/40-18 tire. For the rear I went with 9.5 +22 offset using 275/48-18 tire. It's not flush, tucked in some, it looks great - closer to the outside vs. stock OEM wheels.

Just installed gramlights 18x9.5 245/40 and 265/40. +22 offset. They look WIDE. Should I be worried about needing a fender roll? Will I be rubbing or damaging my fender in the rear? I have read through out the forum NO, but I'm skeptical. Thanks in advance.
You won't rub. I have the same width wheel with more offset (15mm), a 275mm rear tire, and a 0.6" drop. I don't rub.
