Default UHP AS - recommend a tire

Here's my list of tires I'm looking at:
Bridgestone potenza re960as
Yokohama advan ws4
Toyo Proxes 4
Falken Ziex Ze 912
Nitto Neo Gen ZR
??
I'm looking for the best bang for my buck. Yes, I can afford the potenza's, but if the advan's perform just as good, why bother.

I need best dry, wet, snow combination tire. I want to be safe in the snow, but also have some great wet/dry traction. No, I cannot get a set of dedicated winter/summer wheels; that's out of the question. These will be going on my stock 06 roadster rims (6-speed if that matters).

get the 960AS. but no matter what tire you got the Z will still suck in snow, even for an experienced winter driver. but i have ran these for close to two years now and love them.

I've been running the Kumho ASXs since Nov. 2005. While the 275s on the rear are really too wide for wintertime, they've worked great in the snow and aren't bad at all in the dry.

The only time I had problems was when those who had dedicated snow tires were having problems, so I didn't feel too bad about the performance of these tires.

Traction in snow will be precarious with any all season tires. Some choices are better than others: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ighlight=tires.

I have had the 960AS on my car for a while. Even though I am experiencing the dreaded feathering BS, they're an awesome tire. I have 275 rear, and 245 front. Both 18".

In the rain they are great, dry even better (duh lol). Snow wise, they great when NEW. Otherwise, it'll get you through a little bit of snow but don't expect to be going up to the ski hills.

The slushy, warm, "around-freezing'" snowfall will get these tires getting you nowhere !

You can get a set of dedicated winter wheels and tires for about the same price as some of the tires you listed.

Thanks, I'm leaning heavily towards the potenza's, but like I said, for the money I'm hoping they're worth it.

And you missed the point where I said dedicated winter/summer wheels are out of the question.

Can you elaborate on the feathering issue, I wasn't aware.

Just curious, are you on stock wheels? I think I'm gonna get the potenza's in stock size. I'm in an 06 touring roadster.

There's a reason why they call them "no season tires". Terrible in the summer, dreadful in the winter. Lets not even mention the fact that you should be running a smaller tire in the winter.

As a winter driver with dedicated winter tires, it's hard enough to drive in those. If you can't afford proper tires, you shouldn't have bought a 300hp rear wheel drive sports car. Asking what season tires are best is like asking what would you rather eat, a turd or a turd.

Winter driving isn't all about snow. It's also about temperature and not having your tires stiffen up on you.

All season should be/and are banned in certain places during the winter months.

Like I said before, money is not an issue. HOWEVER, I'm not about to shell out an extra 300 dollars for marginally better tires. Which is why I'm on here asking for real experiences.

As far as driving in the winter/snow goes, I drive this car year round. If it snows, I won't be driving. In the event that I'm at work and it snows and I have to drive home, I need a tire that will allow me to do that. Mind you my commute is all of 1.9miles.

As far as keeping a second set of tires/wheels, is out of the question since this is not my house and I do not have anywhere to store them. I'll have to wait till I buy my own house.

960's I have these on my Audi and there great tires in all seasons. I learned for the quattro do not buy cheap tires. I had Kumho ASX, Falken 512's and Proxes 4 on the Audi. Kumho's and Falken's sufferd from "out of round" and shook the car at highway speed so violently I had to slow down. Proxes were good but only lasted about 20K miles. They are not good snow tires. The tread design are not deep enough and are too wide. Snow gets compacted into the treads and becomes like a slick.

Thanks ^^ That's one of the best responses so far. Unfortunately that just made me even more unsure with so many conflicting responses.

Looks like I'm back on the 960's though
