What size wheels and offsets are better for this set-up?
I have finally deciding on going 245/40/18 all around on a square-set-up with most likely a hotchkis drop to even out the wheel gap increase (mainly in the rear) since you can't SLAM cars around here.
The wheels I am looking at come offer these options.
18x8.5 42 offset
18x8.5 35 offset
18x8.5 24 offset
18x9.5 42 offset
18x9.5 25 offset
I want to know what you guys think would look the best. I want the tires to come out more even with the fenders than being tucked away inside, also with as little wheel gap as possible since obviously until I get a drop 245/40/18 in the rear will create some gap.
would 18x9.5 with a 25 offset give me what I want? That's what I was thinking.
I appreciate any thoughts comments or even flames hah. If spacers will help me reach my goal please suggest some as well, I am trying to learn here but I learn best by example.

9.5 +25 and i would suggest 255/40 or better yet , go with a staggered setup. Why the nonstaggered square setup?

Because the this is the best set-up I have seen for the tires I am looking at. I can't spend too much on wheels and tires so I'm choosing cheap but acceptable Nexen N3000 tires so I can spend more on wheels.
With the 9.5 +25 I would probably need a spacer to make he tires come out more?

Will 9.5 with the same offset as a 8.5 wheel give a bigger lip. or does that have nothing to do with the lip. Also on 245 on 9.5 will stretch the tires correct? Is 245/40/18 safe on 9.5 width? I figured they would be correct? Sorry all the questions...i'm just trying to figure everything out.

no offense br0. but none of those setups will look particularly good.
but the lowest offset will look the best, and a 8.5 (as david said) will make the 245 the least stretched and fill up the fender well more.
I don't know why you want a 245 set up so bad, but whatev.
I hope the rim design doesn't suck..

Once again It's either 245/40/18 all around, or i move to the 35 profiles on 18's since Nexen doesn't offer anything larger than 245 on 40 profile 18's. Which would make a huge wheel gap

I would not run a 245 mm tire on a 9.5 inch wheel.

davidv, depending on the wheel style, lowering the offset can increase the size of the lip.
and Sora:
I don't know why you want those terrible tires, and then limit yourself by them.
if you are going to run a square set up, don't limit yourself to those sizes. you should do the 9.5 +20 and a 265 all around.

I live in an area where primered civics, integras, and neons are common, and I understand my budget so "decent" is all I can expect really but I feel it will be plenty good enough. Anything is better than these god-awful stock 17's. Come next summer maybe I will have enough money and be ready to move on to some really nice wheels/tires but for now "decent" is exactly that, and that's good enough for me considering I have like one of the only 3 Z's in the area.

when I had the stock 17s, I upgraded to the stock 18 inch OEMs... I really like them and a 245 looks great on them (until you lower the car that is, then the offset sucks... +30 btw).
two other options are the stock track wheels which are 8 and 8.5 rear. or the GT rims which are 18x9/19x10 stagger and look excellent.
where in PA are you by the way? and what rims were you actually looking at, and what is your budget?

I am not looking to spend more than 1300-1400 total on wheels and tires for right now. I can get a set of nexens for about 380 shipped which leaves me around 1000-1100 for a set. I would buy used but I'm charging this all to a 1500 limit credit card that has 0% APR since I don't have much to spend after buying this Z but I need new tires on it soon anyway so I figured to get them all at once. I was looking at some different Enkei rims currently. If i wasn't charging to a card I would buy good used ones. I don't need anything super light since I'm not tracking it or racing it. I just want something lighter than stock that are durable quality.
I am about 40 miles south of Pittsburgh...there's not much here, including things to do or money.

you can use your card through paypal if that is necessary.
and I was about to point you to the guy who is selling the really nice Ray's GT set up I mentioned with brand new tires for 1800. but that is slightly out of your range.
I suggest looking at tirerack if they carry nexens, because don't forget M/B is about 100 bucks + possibly shipping for your parts. if you do rim/tire through tirerack you save on both of those.
at 1k you can get a few different decent rims though.

245/45/18 is offered in that Tire, get those in the back with the 245/40 front and put them on either the 8.5 or 9.5's and call it a day. I would get the 9.5's all around, i don't mind a little stretch. You would even stagger 8.5 front and 9.5 rear if you want with my posted tire selection.
