Does all-square 245/45-18 run OK with VDC?
Ive received a few questions from members via PMs asking if 245/45-18 all-square works with VDC-equipped cars.
My reply is that it does work with a VDC-equipped Z. Ive run all-square summer-performance tires (245/45-18) and all-square studless snow tires (225-55-17) on my VDC-equipped Z with no problems.
What does not work with VDC-equipped Z-cars is 245/40-18 all-square or 225/50-17 all-square.
The best solution (for near stock dimensions) is 245/40-18 front with 245/45-18 rear, or 225/50-17 front and 225/55-17 rear (or 235/50-17 rear).
Im creating this thread to avoid confusion on this point.
Of course, people preferring wider tires will suggest different sizing (i.e., 245/40-18 front and 275/40-18 rear, or 245/35-19 front and 275/35-19 rear, or whatever and maybe much wider... whci of course works as long as the overall diamter matches the requirements for tire sizing on a VDC-equipped Z).
