Default 17x7 with oem tires?

I recently acquired a set of 17inch rims and soon realized they are 7 inch wide rims. Right now I still have the stock 235x50 rear tires and 225x50 front tires My question is will these tires fit and what options do I have? Oppions,
suggestion?

I would ride on the stock 17x8 17x8.5s over those..

they will probably fit but it will have a slight bulge

I would not put a 235 mm tire on a 7.0 inch wheel.

Just forget this idea, sell the rims to a civic owner, and pretend you never entertained doing this.

The Z wheel well is enormous and the Z swollows wheels man.......sticking on smaller 17's, plus also not as wide 7 inch wheels will not look right at all..........there are NO 7 inch wheel widths with offsets even low enough to even entertain the Z with out looking rediculous on the car......its not just about bolt pattern......

plus the fact of trying to install an over sized tire on a smaller rim will most likely pop off as the bead one seat properly....

Whats the offset? it should say it on the back of the wheel somewhere......most likely ET## and the ## will be high, probably like 45 or something..

A 235/50/17 fits on a wheel width anywhere from 6.5" to 8.5". It will fit fine on a 7" wheel. I run 225/50/17 and 235/50/17 Michelin Artic Alpine PA2's in the winter for the past 3 winters on 17x7 wheels without any problems. With that said, would I recommend it for anything other than a winter beater setup? No. The tires bulge, the sidewalls flex, and it just looks ugly.

Its going to look like your driving on doughnuts with those offsets on a 7" wide wheel.

In fact, the doughnut will prob look better.

For my winter-tire setup, I run this (which is close to what you are asking about):

225/55-17” tires (all-square setup) on 17x7” wheels with a 35mm offset.

Some pictures of what this setup looks like….

Notice that this setup is strictly for function (large offset keeps the tire well inside the wheel well to avoid road debris damage when driving during winter months) and ignores form (the esthetics of this setup are awful). It’s functional, but it’s “butt ugly.” This setup has doughnut tires on narrow wheels that are way-too-tucked inside the wheel well.

If you are considering a 17x7” wheel with a 40 offset for driving during the summer months, forget doing this. You will have the ugliest Z “evah.”

I'm not trying to be a "wise-guy," but only telling you your wheel/tire setup will look very ugly on an otherwise very attractive car.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the 40 offset of these wheels would put the wheels tucked in even further than your 35 offset you have pictured correct? And you guys think spacer are deffinately not going to be enough to help the problem very much. Sounding like they are gonna be on craigs list in the near future.

Yes, a 40 offset is more tucked than a 30-35 offset.

Sell those wheels for whatever you can get for them. A 40mm offset is way too high for the Z. Fixing the offset requires a large spacer (which adds co$t and complexity to your wheel/tire setup).

Also, a 7” wide wheels is too narrow for the Z if you want to run 245mm tires or greater (it will look bulged).

If your budget is tight, look for OEM wheels (18x8”). There are plenty for sale right here, and they are inexpensive when a seller wants to get rid of them and replace with aftermarket wheels.

Let us know what you decide to do.

See my thing is I don't really wanna sell'em for a profit because I bought them off of a friend for dirt cheap and I feel like I would be kinda abusing their kindness if i turned around and made a profit off of them. Will probably sell them For what I paid for them.

Budget wise, you guessed right. Pretty shoe string. Me andy wife are tryingg to buy a house plus I'm saving for FI so this was just kinda an acquisition of oppurtunity. I would try to make it work if I could but if not well, I will just cut my losses and put the money into the GTM TT fund.

Why don't you sell them and take out your friend with the "profit"? Win win for all, especially your poor Z

Why not sell the wheels for what you can get for them?

If there’s a substantial gain, just give your friend a piece of the profit you seem to believe you will make on this sale. I would think getting some unexpected cash would be a pleasant surprise for your friend.

With this said, I wonder if you will see any substantial profit when selling 17x7” wheels. I paid $125 for the wheels you see in the pictures I posted above (yes, that was $125 total for all four wheels).
