Speaking if Yokohama, I currently have the DB's and they are great in a 225/50/16 wheel and the performance is incredible and they are quiet compared to the junkie Goodyear RSA's I had before, but I got the following from Yokohama regarding the 17 inch wheels on the Z:

Yokohama does not manufacture any tire in these sizes. The AVS DB will not be available in these sizes. Thank you for contacting Yokohama Tire Corporation.

So no Yokohama for the 17's at least and I guess it is the Michelin Sports after the Bridgestones wear out in about 10K

I don't think the offset for 19's would be any different than 18's, it is the width of the wheel that really effects offset. If you stay with an 8 inch wheel, same as the 18x8 (30F, 30R offsets), or 18x8.5 (33R offset) you would want a similar offset. But, if you go any wider, you may have to wait till someone can test it out. You have some tollerance as far as offset, all it is, is the distance from where the wheel actually mounts, to the edge of the wheel itself (lip). It is usually safe to increase offset slightly, going down may effect brake caliper clearence, etc. Someone correct me if I am wrong....

I myself am ready to order a set of Volk LE37T's, problem is they come only in 18x8.5 and 18x9.5. I will probably use the 18x8.5 (30mm offset) on both front and rear, and use 235/40/18 and 255/40/18.... But, I will probably wait, as bad ad I want to order now. Any other suggestions?

There are some other places too. When I figure out what I need, I am going to call 10 places, or so, to see who has the best deal. There are only 3 authorized dist. in Texas, none in Austin, so I looked on the internet. MVP seems to have good prices, they list them for the Supra and 300Z, so I am sure they can get them for the 350Z. Do a search (internet) for (LE37T and) Volk and wheels, and you can see some sights that sell Volk's.

Correction: the offset is the point where the wheel actually mounts to the center of the wheel. There is a good explaination in the latest SportCompactCar.... It seems that increasing offset would give more clearance, and pull the wheel away from the car, but may effect handling....

 

Now that we know for sure the off-set for the Z thanks to the publication of the Manual...(I know Zisme said it awhile back but looking at hard facts is what I go by). Would it be any different for 19's with the 30 front and 33 rear offset? I'm thinking not much and you have atleast an inch or two plus front and rear to play with the width.

Example lets say you want to go with:

235/40/19x8 Front
255/40/19x9 Rear

I seems that this will work but I really don't want to be the first to find out. The Z will probably very easily fit 275 on the rear. Trying to be patient but I guess I'm hoping someone like Txstyle figures it out so we can place an order before delivery.

As far as clearence (with caliper) the offset being the same should not matter, but that means the wheel will be closer to the shock/spring and closer to rubbing. Now, there should be plenty of room, but until someone actually can measure, who know's. Also, how will it effect balance and handling....

 

I actually had a conversation this weekend with my wheel guys and we both agree that the Z should accomidate my planned setup: 245/35/19-front & 275/30/19-rear. And actually jrreed, DO NOT mount a 255 on a 9in. wheel! Can it be done? Probably Should it be? NO! There would be so much rim exposed that any slightest rub against the curb would scrath! Also dynamically speaking, the sidewall of the tires would appear to be receding (angling back) kinda like what you would see on a "LowRider" type car where that look is desireable. But how many LowRiders do you see taking corners at high-speed? If you are eyeballing some 9in wheels stick with a 265 or even a 275 would give you even more sidewall cushion in the event of a "curb-kiss".

Here's a better way of describing OFFSET: The distance from its hub mounting surface (where the wheel actually makes contact with the ends of the bolts) to the centerline of the wheel (if you cut the wheel from the side it would be straight down the middle). The more POSITIVE OFFSET you have, the more clearance you have for say: Big Brakes/Larger Callipers.

I'm looking at +40 offsets but I'm not sure whether they'll fit or not... I'd like to go fat in the back - 9.5 and decently fat in the front - 8.5.

I'm tore between 18's and 19's... seems like 19's would screw the ride quality BIG TIME. I live in Seattle and our streets pretty much suck.

Front - TE37's @ 18x8.5 with +30 offset fit?? (or 40mm??)
Rear - TE37's @ 18x 9.5 +40 or 35mm (don't know *shrug*)

I'm also confused about tire size. I'm completely lost here. I want something wide on the back and nice on the front...

Well 3rdpower, I personally think you won't go wrong with either 18 or 19. It's not so much the 1in. difference on the 19's that's bad, but the low as hell sidewall on the 19's! Typically 35 & 30 (as on my GS now). I think your above setup will be perfect: Looks & Handling. Tire sizes for that setup: 245/40/18 front & 275/35/18 rear. Plenty of excellent rubber choices in these sizes.

Those Toyo's sure look nice - I like the tread pattern. How do they stand against the P-030's? I'm looking at dropping 3 grand on the combination tire, rims

Actually you'd be surprised! I've noticed a steady price increase on the Toyo's (no doubt due to all the praise and attention the T1-S has gotten in the past year or so!) But nonetheless, an absolute BLAST to have on your car. They are just so damn sticky! But yet they have a near 300 treadwear (which varies from manufacturer) and both wet & dry grip are simply phenominal! The S0-3 is definitely a fine choice and would be be my very next pick for dollar to performance ratio. But the "MAX-PERFORMANCE Tire arena is getting pretty fierce! Particularly with Falkens: GRB FK-451 and KUMHO's brand spanking new Ecsta MX! All of the tires I have mentioned are "AA" (Best in the World for wet & dry) and are considered "MAX PERFORMANCE".

 

According to Nismo you guys look like you were close atleast.

It seems 275/40/18 9.5 can fit the rear
+38 for standard car height &
+30 with Nismo Suspension system

Front
245/40/18 8.5
+30 for standard height &
+25 with Nismo Suspension kit

I noticed that the tire with (8.5) is the same for the front even with the Nismo Suspension but for the rear it says (8.5) but with the Nismo kit is says 9.5 with an offset of +30. This is confusing...Does this mean if we use 9.5 we need to use +38 or +30 with the standard height? I don't plan on buying the suspension systems.

 

Excellent news. I wish I had noticed we had offset info a long time ago. I'm hopefully placing an order for Advans sometime this week 18x8.5,18x9.5 And I'll probably go 245/40/18 in front and 275/40/18 in back, employing the S-03s, unless someone has a better idea. There'll be plenty of time to see if 18x10s will work in back; best to be safe for now, I think. It seems like I can go with 30 and 38 offsets, but hopefully someone can confirm this...

 

I'm a little concerned that if we don't get the suspension to go with it will we be forced to go with 275 on just an 8.5 wheel. Will the tire bulge over the lip of the rim?

 

Most likely; I think you're supposed to run 255s on a 9" rim, and 245s on a 8.5"

 

This concerns me because the TE37's don't come in 38! ugh... Would a 40 offset work or?! ArGGhhhhHHH!!!!
