you mean how do stock rims look on the Z? They look like ****...you should get around 12k miles on a set of tires if your toe is in check and you ahve generous camber...

I assume you have the stock 18's right now?

There is nothing wrong with 17” wheels. In fact, 17” wheels provide some advantages:
  • They typically provide a more comfortable ride.
  • Tires for 17” wheels often co$t less than tires for wheels with greater diameter.
  • 17” wheel/tire setups are lighter and provide better straight line performance.
  • Cars used on the track are often equipped with 17” wheels.
Of course for this size to look right on your Z, follow the rules for wheel width and offset. You have a higher sidewall height, but you can go very wide with 17” wheels.

Here’s a pic of 17” wheels used for my winter tire/wheel setup.

Not pretty, but not too ugly either. And… this is with narrow 17” wheels and narrow snow tires. It can look much better with wider wheels and tires.

There are examples of 17” wheel/tire setups on the Forum posted by people who track their Z. I think they look pretty good.

My guess is you will just be buying 17" tires as often if your habits don't change.

You do realize that the Base and Enthusiast trims came with 17" wheels standard from 2003 to 2005 right?

I believe these are the 17" stock wheels on this 2003 Base.

Here is a picture of mine taken in July, 2003 when the car was new. Those are the stock 17" wheels.

I've put 20,000 on my 17 tires and they've got a LOT of life left.

17 inch wheels look one inch smaller than 18 inch wheels. I am sure about this.
