Default Disable VDC entirely

I have a stagger but it is not exact anymore with 255*40 rears and stock track fronts. VDc cuts in more often and I hate it. Im sick of always having to turn it off and staring at that light at night. (From a recent femal passenger, are we out of gas?)
IS there a way to shut that system off entirely? MAybe a fuse I can yank?

It might be a pain in the a--, but why go to such extreme measures. Keep pressing the button and tell the girlfriend to hold on and keep quiet.

HA! - Depending on the GF, that can sometimes be considered an extreme measure!

Joust, how about putting on a 255/45 rear tire? Maybe that will solve the problem?

It seems the VDC is pretty tempermental. I just drove over 100 miles to and from an AutoX on my race tires (265/35-18 all around) and did not get any VDC activation. Strange how it happens more in some cars and less in others.
Good luck!

I first upgraded to 255/45. That tripped VDC way too much. Its alot better with these tires

Please read MY post in the slipping thread. It is 5 posts before yours. You will understand there is still a problem. Apply the formula, do the math. My rears are still taller than the fronts. The only thing that will help is replacing my fronts so the stagger is proportional to what it was with the stock tire.

Thanks for the concern mom The VDC is designed to protect us, but not with an altered package as I and many others have. Case in point:
Tonight I was driving back from the girlfriends house down Del DIos Highway (those from SD know it is a long windy two lane only road) On a long sweeper Not even close to the handling threshold VDC jumps in slip light goes on throtte is cut and breaks are applied!! Thats crap. ABS or not if the computer does this in the wrong situation and you are toast. In this situation I had forgotten to press that stupid button.
Not only that You cant always tell when VDC is working or not. It could be eating up my brakes every time I take a corner.

NOw once again does anyone know how to kill the VDC????!!!

I want it turned off too... I nearly crashed into a guard rail because of that darn VDC coming on... i'm doing 100 coming into Denver on 285 and it's downhill and winding... i come flying into this right hander and the VDC starts choppin' in and out on me and I nearly lost it... would have never happened with it off, that i'm sure of. It may be there to protect the stupid, but I want it off too... thanks!

yeah, I think that there must be a way to turn vdc/traction off completely if we choose to and have it work via the same off button we have now.

i'd pay for this in a sec.

it is for sale(no clue who was selling it) or there is a DIY on how to make it so it defaults to off when you start your car. if I remember it right it was like 5$ worth of stuff from radioshack.

for the record, your sidewall is 102. 255/45 is 114.75

stock is 110.25. not for nothing, Im no expert on the exact specifics, but it would seem 255/45 is much closer than 255/40. and whats more your fronts have a sidewll of 101.25. your damn near even front to back right now. perhaps it was weather, or driving style that seemed to make VDC kick in more often? I mean slip is slip right? it either is or isnt slipping, so if its ok during normal driving, it should be ok all the way to the limit?

you can just put a switch that goes to the vdc. Don't really know which wire it is. I've been searching for it for a while now...

Thanks for the info But I have tried both these sidewall heights. The lower one trips VDC alot less and more importantly it looks better! The taller sidewall made the rear wheels look like those of a farm tractor!

i need new fronts now so when I get my 235/40 I should be back to normal

Default Disabling VDC

I was told that if you press the VDC button and hold on to it for like 15~30 seconds, it will be completely shut off. I tried, the light came on and after some time, the VDC light was off. I didnt know if it was completely off or not. I was in a drift event, the car was still hard to drift under high speed. Maybe, my technique was wrong. Under low speed, drifting was easier. However, the Z still had alot of understeer, that was what i found after half a day of drifting event.
