Default what happened to my wheel and how do i fix it?

It looks like something was rubbing it while I was driving, and now I have these dull places all around the lip. Other than take it to a repair shop, how else do I polish it out. I have all the air tools I need, just not sure if air tools and polishing compounds are the way to go.

are you lowered to where you would rub your fenders? Were you carrying a lot of weight recently?

Agree. The finish is gone. You cannot get it back. You may be rubbing the fender liner.

Did you wipe them with abrasive cleaners?

Lowered on sportlines, and nothing is rubbing...I realize the finish is gone tho...guess I'll probably wetsand the hoop and polish it back out and just keep it clean as possible....perfect opportunity to have them painted tho too...hmmmmm. No abrasive cleaners were used, and it wasnt like that last week. I just noticed it today when I put my clear markers on.

You didn't hear any sounds that were out of the ordinary while driving? What size tires are you running?

Also, the GT-C is an old design, what's the production date on yours?

Clear looks to be wearing, or your rubbing on bumps.

Nice wheels and those things look way lower than a 35 profile tire ... I would be scared shitless to drive with those in my area

I concur. It was probably the fender lining edge that scraped your wheel. And you can definitely restore that rim with a bit of wetsanding and buff/polish

Ok, so I started wet sanding with 1000 grit and then polished it, and it's turning out good. I'll follow the 1000 with 1500, then probably 2000...so since it will be very time consuming, would it cause any problems drivetrain-wise if I put that wheel on the back and put the car on jack stands, and pop it in 1st or 2nd gear and let the wheel roll as I wet sand it that way? Kinda a noob question maybe, so by all means feel free to flame LOL....seriously tho, it'll go a whole lot quicker.

i'd recommend you taking to a wheel repair guy.. having them strip the clear and polish the lip.

Try wet sanding with like 400 then 1000 then 1500. Mother's aluminum and mag wheel polish works great after that. I had a wheel repair specialist fix some curb damage for me yesterday - he hit it with a grinder, wet sanded with 800 then 1000 then hit it with the Mother's and the lip looks great.
