Pictures of stock 18" with 40 profile
does anyone ride on 40 profile sidewall on there stock 06+ 18" rims? I know the stock height is 45, but I was planning on installing the 40 but wanted to know if the fender gap was all that bad by going down to 40. reason being is that the 40's will track better. thanks.

If you are looking for specific examples, you need to specify the tire width and the profile (and of course the wheel diameter which you do specify as 18").
Here is an explanation:
The metric tire sizing system represents a tire size as:
[section width (mm)] / [aspect ratio] - [rim diameter (inches)]
For example: a tire size 225/45-18 is 225mm wide, has an aspect ratio of 45 and fits an 18" rim (wheel).
The aspect ratio (the second number) is not a measurement. The aspect ratio represents the tire's sidewall height as a percentage of the tires width (section height divided by section width). In the example above, the sidewall height is 101mm (101/225=45).
The aspect ratio is important since that (along with the wheel size) determines the overall diameter of the tire allowing you to match your stock overall tire height (diameter). For example, a 225/45-18 tire's sidewall height is 101mm, and a 245/40-18 tire's sidewall height is 98mm.
So, both tires have nearly the same overall diameter.

Thanks for the pic.
But let me get this straight:
the stock 225/45/18 front height is 26.0 inches
If i mounted a 245/40/18 tires the new height would be 25.7 inches (according to tire calculator)
So will this .3 inches even be noticeable, or will this just look like the rest of the 45 profile tires?

Thanks for posting that pic it helps
But would mounting a 245/40/18 front and 255/40/18 rear be almost equivalent to mounting a 45 profile tire in looks since the sidewall is a "percentage" like spike said?

The rear is a little short, 265 or 275 is prefured for the rear but your wheels are not wide enought for them. You said for the track right, the setup you posted above will be a great choice.
