Default Reasonable wait time for rims

I'd like to know what everyone here thinks is a reasonable time to wait for a set of rims, which I was told were on back order when I originally made the call. These are not anything abnormal like a custom paint job or a completely custom one of a kind rim with wild offset. These are rims normally offered by a manufacturer through a distributor on their website. I won't specify who the manufacturer or distributor is since I'm hoping things are just taking long and I like to be professional about these things, but I am now waiting 5 months. Is this bordering on ridiculous or fairly acceptable for rim orders ?

I waited 7 months for my Work VS-XX's
Sometimes that's the price you pay for buying brand new wheels which have to be shipped from Japan.

There really is no such thing as a standard reasonable wait time for such an item. As previously stated it really depends on a lot. The main thing that determines how long it will take is how far off you wheel order is from the expected manufacturing schedule for your wheel. If the manufacturer just so happened to finish producing a batch of your wheel model, but didn't happen to produce any wheels in the specs that you ordered then your wait can be extensive as you will have to wait until your wheel is up on the manufacturing schedule again.

assuming they are a manufactured in japan.
not economical to build one set of wheels and then ship. better to consolidate orders over the course of a few months and fill a container from japan.
in turn saves on the cost to you. you probably wouldnt pay for the individual shipping on your set of wheels.
delays with weather also play a part on shipping.
waited about 6months for my advans.
next time i'll probably buy instock only.

Typical of retailers who sell wheels that they do not have. You pay your money THEN they start looking for wheels. With your money in their pocket why rush?

With any internet order it is wise to include a note: If you cannot ship on or before blank cancel my order and return my money immediately.

How do you know the OP wasn't told that the wheels would have to be special ordered when he/she placed their order? If you were a retailer would you special order a set of wheels for anyone without payment first?

BTW I personally do not know the OP and I know for a fact that I personally have not conducted any business transactions with them.

It took 7 months for my rims to be shipped to my door. In between that time, I ended up buying brand new set off a forum member. When the new ones arrived, I sold them. If you don't want to wait, look in the classifieds.

Been waiting since June for my Works. Just got an email last week saying they have arrived at the Warehouse in California. Take that, plus the fact I'm adding another month to make my final payment because of an emergency that came up, plus the time it takes to get them from California to Germany and it will be quite a long wait. It could be a little while longer my friend.

good info in this thread. Didn't expect wait times to stretch to 7-8 months in some cases, but clearly it happens.
