Is it still considered a staggered setup?
Hi guys. I'm buying some wheels soon and I'm a noob to this. Never bought aftermarket before. I own a '08 Z touring. Considering buying this setup:
Rims are Rota P45R 18x9.5 all around
tires are 245/40 and 275/40
Even though the wheels are not staggered but the tires are, is this considered a staggered setup? I have stock suspension so it should all fit right? No rubbing or anything?

Its "staggered" but just incase you care the front and rear will look different because you will have a straight sidewall up front and a slight bulge on the rear.
What offsets are you getting? that is the only way to tell you if you wont rub at all.

on a +20 offset you should have no problems rubbing.
I dont know what sizes Rota offers since I would never buy them but why not a 9" front rim and a 10" rear rim or even a 9" and 9 1/2" if they dont offer 10" sizes. You will be able to fit better sizes as well as make them look proper.
I currently have 9.5 front 10.5 rear net +15 offset with 255/285 tires on 19" but my next setup I think is goign to be 10 or 10.5 on all 4 corners with 285's all the way around.
You have to decide whats important to you when it comes down to it and what function you want it to perform.
Would would buy a staggered set of rims but Rota doesn't make that style anyother way.
Thanks Barnabas and everyone else on your input. I appreciate it. And thank you Barnabas for the pic. I've be looking for some photos to see what it might look like.

245/40-18” F / 275/40-18” R tires on 9.5x18” wheels with a +20 offset is a very nice setup for a 350Z.
You will have great handling, and this setup will look very good. Your front sidewalls will be nearly straight and the rear will be a little bulged, so you will have a slightly different look on the fronts and the rears; but that’s not a big deal.
The +20 offset is greater than the stock +30 offset, and will put your rear tires very close to “flush.” You will not have any rubbing issues with the +20 offset unless you drop the car more than ½”.

The pics posted by Barnabas (and kudos for Barnabas taking the time to do this) show a Z with a body kit. If your car is stock, it will have a more flush-look than the car in the pictures.

Generally "staggered" is wheel width. Say front 9.0 inches rear 10.0 inches. Still its possible to do same size wheels all around with wider tires in the rear.
What this often forces you to do is stretch one tire, and "fat" the other.
