if your looking for something a little cheaper. im loving my KDW's atm they grip great and have some great tread wear.

I've been running the BFG KDW on my stock block JWT 700 kit Z, 420whp. Love them!! Perfect for the Houston summers and rains. And if anyone ever been in Houston when it rains... it RAINS! Good longevity out of them as well and I'm an aggressive driver. Been running 255/35 & 285/35 on my 19x9.5 & 19x11 WORKs. Had a set of Yoko Avid Sports but they went quick!!! And for the cost the KDW just lasted longer.

However my Z is in the shop now getting a built long block and some other goodies. Also ordered new 19" HRE P43SC in the same sizes as my WORKs. Think I'm going to try the Toyo R888 in a 265/30 & 305/30. Talked to a lot of avid HPDE drivers, mostly Vette & Viper owners, and the R888 get great reviews for track & street.

i have heard the r888's wear quick as hell can anyone confirm? im gona try the new nitto nt555RII road racing tire that i have seen, supposedly grips almost as good as the r888 but lasts quite a bit longer both track and street(well only really seen anything on corvette forums prob due to limited sizes). 250-350 a tire online, only available in limited sizes though.(one size for 17 inch rims and two for 18's is all they have im gona try to make the 285/35/18's fit the front so i can have a square set up.)

OK... Looking at the following tires and reading their "tread life," higher number more life, the Michelin Super Sports have the highest rating of 300AA but also cost (based on a 305/30/19 via TireRack) the most at $575/ea. The PS2's come right behind at 220AA and $454/ea. The Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 and Bridgestone RE-11 both have a 180AA rating and $359 for the Yoko's and $382, RE-11. The Hankook R-S3's have the lowest rating, 140AA and cost $425/ac.

But further research for myself... I'm considering running a 265/30 or 275/30 on the front. The Hankook R-S3 and Michelin PS2 are not offered in either of those sizes. The Bridgestone RE-11 and Yokohama Advan Neova AD08 both offer a 275/30. While the Michelin Super Sport is offered in a 265/30 or 275/30, amount other sizes.

I'm back leaning towards the Michelin Super Sports just based on the tread life, available sizes, and recommendations via TireRack and other specs. However the Hankooks and Yokohamas both have an available Road Hazard Program.

Thoughts????

At least in 20" land (never shopped for 19's, I know it's a different ballgame) but at < 1/3 the cost of a set of PS2's but close / similar dry weather grip I'll take 3 sets of NT555's.

They don't offer the NT555 in a 305/30. The largest size for the NT555 for 19's is a 275. Only the Invo is available in a 275/30 & 305/30-19. And after working at a performance C5/C6 shop and seeing so many Vettes with Invos on them, and not getting traction with stock 400whp to modded 600+whp I stay away from Nittos. They don't impress me at all.

why are you building your car for more horsepower and then looking for a hard long wearing tire? Might as well just run 400hp if you wanna use those tires.

Get a set of R888s and call it a day.

yea R888s do not last extremely long, but you get a lot less life out of tires that do nothing but spin all the time.

RE11s are great tires and all, but over 500rwhp they dont seem to have a place on the Z... they were miserable to try and run full throttle on, and wore out faster than the R888s due to the all the spin

I use tiresdirect.net

Their warehouse is local to me and decent prices. it's part of Cassidy Tire, which is a pretty big, long-standing name in tires in Chicago. They have been pushing Toyo tires forever. I actually had never heard of Toyo until I walked into a Cassidy in 1997 and they were really proud of the brand and they got me excited to put a set on my Konigs for my sweet *** cavalier z24

I had Konigs on my Civic but owned a Sunfire that I totaled when stationed in Italy.

Thanks for the site, BTW!

I'm running 295/35/18 NT05's at 423whp and I could use more straight-line grip. They handle great but they can't put much power down on the street with -2.0 camber. I might try a pair of 285/35/18 R-S3's and see if they're any better.

Make that -4deg when you're actually pedal to the floor

I have been doing a lot of research on the RE-11s and most of the reviews I've been reading have been very positive... Like you say- it's a great tire. I'm in a G so I'm wondering if the heavier rear end might help to overcome some of that slippage? Or is the 11 just a lost puppy anywhere near that power output?

I've been looking for a tire that will depart less when I lean on it... but yet maintain some of the creature comforts of a vehicle driven more on the street than on a track. As I mentioned before I'm on S-Drives right now so my rear could use an upgrade though my front will probably stay the same.

R888s might be leaning a little too far to the performance side in terms of comfort but again it's tough to tell from the reviews of people I'm not familiar with. To see the commentary from guys who I can kind of identify with here is a bit easier to relate what they're saying with what I'm looking for. Someone in a quiet car might say the R888s are noisy- while someone with a performance exhaust might say they're whisper quiet.

I was also reading that the R888s needed to be heated up quite a bit before they were dependably sticky- and wet traction was a bit questionable in the reviews I was reading. I know, tires stick more when they're heated up but the fact that it was even mentioned in the review suggests that it needed even more heating up than most tires? The RE-11 seemed like the more appropriate tire for my purposes... Under 500whp does it remain a tire of choice for most users?

Sorry for rambling. I've been wanting to get this squared away for awhile and figure I might as well just ask.
