All I can say is wow, the car drives normal again. No more loud noises when I brake, it is amazing...just hope the feathering doesn't come back again.

Lips -

I'm just starting down this road...

What can I expect? Did they replace all 4 tires, or just the front? Are the new tires the same OEM Potenzas?

my dealership refused to replace my tires, they only rotated the front and gave an alignment. didnt really help much. pretty soon im gonna have tires with feathering on both sides and they will be useless.

In response to both of you guys, first off the feathering...really called cupping occurs only on the front tires for the most part, so they only replaced the fronts with the same crap tires.
Mdacko- you can not go through your dealership, you must call nissan north america and file a complaint, I can give you the number of the person I spoke to, she was very helpful, I am just worried that the cupping will come back because it has for many others. let me know if you have any other questions

Mdacko,

I assume from your location that we've worked with the same dealership. That's past-tense for me - I haven't been back to those incompetent a-holes since I picked up my plates.

I swung by another dealer yesterday to complain about my noisy tires. (I visually inspected them for "feathering" - but didn't see it. Only last night did I reach into the well to feel the inside tread - the "cupping" feels like a rubber roller-coaster!)

My new dealer called me today to inform me that my tires are on order and they'll setup an apt to replace them early next week.

My advice: go 15 miles east on Michigan Ave. - and don't look back!

It's too bad that it takes over 2 months for the tires to come in off delivery...not very efficient to say the least.

hi
just had my fronts replaced. now back to normal- quiet and stable. the dealer made one call, and called me back, said nissan agreed to replace no questions asked.

checked discount tire co. looks like the re040 may be heading for the great tire chipper in the sky. they only listed one tire size.....

I have burned up dunlop SP8000s (Z rated) pretty quickly in another car, but they only have a 200 wear rating- so about 15000 miles. the re040's have a 140 rating which roughly translates to 10000 miles or so. i am wondering if the tire is underrated for the car- like the load carrying capacity is pretty near the tire's limit>?? does anyone know the front rear weight distribution (not the factory info, but really weighed with someone in the drivers seat??)

No idea of the weight ratio...but I can tell you I will get far more then 10000 miles out of my tires, even the front ones that got replaced had over half tread left as well as my rears and im already sitting at 10600 miles.
