Default Need help buying Rims off ebay?

Ive never bought anything off of ebay and wondered what your guys experience was from it?

Im interested in a set of rims in this auction.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=43959

They look really nice and I saw other auctions for the same thing for $3100.

I have never have bought a thing off ebay. Is it pretty safe using paypal system? I dont want to get burned.

Just wanted to know what your guys experience was buying parts off ebay.

Thanks

I'd be weary of sending over $2k to someone with such a low rating (2). However, since you both seem to be in the SoCal area, maybe you could just pick them up locally. Shoot him an email and ask.

I would check out the rims first, before bidding. Make sure the rims are exactly as advertised. Also, are those offsets are correct for the Z (I know nothing about rims).

yeah, 2 feedbacks, and both as a buyer, and well over a year ago. write him and specify you will pay in cash when you personally pick them up, if you win.

Hey 2003z do you care at all that on a social non-political forum you may be insulting easily 1/2 the board’s members who see your bias, childish and slanderous political graphic every time you post?

Show some class and reflect you political persuasion in an appropriate forum and help keep this one politically neutral.

with a purchase that large from such an unknown seller I would use an escrow service.

Ebay Escrow Service

For every thousand dollars they charge something like 50 bucks. Pretty cheap to insure your not screwed out of 2 G's.

Escrows are pretty simple
Step 1:
The buyer and seller agree to the terms and details of the transaction.
Step 2:
The buyer sends payment to Escrow.com. Payment is verified and deposited into a trust account.
Step 3:
The seller ships the merchandise to the buyer, knowing that the buyer's payment is secured.
Step 4:
The buyer accepts the merchandise after having the opportunity to inspect it. Step 5:
Escrow.com pays the seller after all conditions of the transaction are met.

IMHO its the only way I would complete that transaction if you cannot arrange to pick up the wheels in person and pay in cash. GL nice rims btw

yeah, paypal is allright, just make sure you pay with a credit card thru it.

There are some horror storys associated with them, basicly when you create an account you sign away your life Giving them access to all funds in the account ect. But your CC company gives you sufficent protection.

Now thats just as a payment method, a way to transfer funds. In my experiance paypal gives you a less than satisfactory resolution of problems with items recived. IF your going to buy those rims sight unseen from that seller, escrow is the only way to do it. To damn dangerous otherwise.
