Default How bad will I be hurting performance with 20" wheels?

The particular wheels I'm looking at, TSW Thruxton, doesn't really have much of a price difference from 19-20" (tire price is almost identical for 19" and 20"). However, the twenty inch have a MUCH bigger lip and look more aggressive.

Anyway, how much do you think I'm going to kill my performance and ride quality with these wheels? Someone with experience w/ 20" on this car please chime in, especially if you went from 19" to 20".

I got a drive out price of less than $2000 for 20x8.5 20x10 wheels, 245/35/20 285/30/20 tires, mounted, lifetime balance, warranties and taxes on this setup so I am pretty much sold on this particular wheel (by far the best bang for the buck on the Z, M-Sports don't count cause the rear offset looks shitty), just the sizing issue is giving me a headache!

I weighed the 20*8.5" Thruxton's and they were 27 lbs!

Really, 27lbs. is about like stock. That rear wheel (20x10) must be a killer though!

I wish someone with 20" wheels knew how much their times dropped or their speedo went off so I could decide if it's worth it. :P

I got sub 20lb 19" wheels, and I feel a drain in acceleration. I can't imagine what 27lb 20" wheels would do! The wider treads do add a lot of weight though, so it's not just the rims.

It's not just the weight, it the rotational inertia. You have more weight even farther from the axle to deal with. That means that your engine has to work harder to get it spinning.

I've seen quite a few guys post here that their ride quality went to **** once then went to 19s, I imagine it will be worse on 20s.

I just sold very light weight 19's. They were 19lbs. front and 21lbs rear. I put the stock 18's back on and the straight line acceleration feels stronger. I don't think that there are any advantages to 20's other than the look, if you prefer that.

Haven't seen a differance.I went from 18-19- and now 20s. My 20s handle better in turns but they are a lot wider than my other rims.

well i have 20" LD5's lowenhart's 9" front 11" rear ...well for sure i lose 0-60 time but the looks are great .....i use it every day
ok you lose some 0-60 but u gain stabilty on high speeds .
the ride is a bit stiffer but not much u would get use to it in no time ..but worth the looks u gain.
ok do it like this ...get the 20" for show and turning heads and keep the stocks rap them with Nitto's 555R and keep them for the drag and track days
