Thats what I was thinking.
On an somewhat unrelated note, with 650+ lb ft of torque on the FP dyno, this thing is going to pull like a freight train!

I'm curious too. I thought with an an extra 4psi and C16, it would pick up more than 50whp. Maybe I'm missing something though.

so here are some comparison graphs.
XKR is strong. The T25s make good power down low! it gains 100 hp in 250 rpm between 4500 and 4700 rpms. The turbos definately are fully spooled by in that range. ** i meant 18psi c16 on the graphs not pump So rough in vs 14 psi. ![]() 14psi pump vs 18psi C16 ![]() 14 psi vs Greddy 20g at 15psi. I dont think the 0.5L extra made this much difference. Small turbos FTMFL *Although it is interesting to note COsworth heads, aggro cam, and cosworth plenum still show exactly the same drop in TRQ, although at a high level. Makes you wonder how much that stuff is worth vs bigger turbos and more boost ![]() ![]() 18psi C16 vs SP's 9second drag car with twin 6262 on a 3.5L ![]() 14 psi vs Cass 3071 at 18psi with meth ![]() The only dyno that I have that's really comparable is 4.2l greddy 20g and Mike's 18psi ![]() and last but not least. My prediction vs reality. I guess Terry and I both need some work ![]()

why are the higher psi numbers on the low end of the graph lower than the low psi numbers?

takes the turbos a lil longer to spool, so the high boost charts shift power to the right slightly. Also, Sharif might have changed the timing.

During the 18psi runs...Sharif kept coming out of the car to pull the straps tighter because he thought the wheels were slipping.... Then he asked Jeremy to keep an eye on the rear wheel.... We then found out that it was the clutch.... Then before we left the shop tonight... Sharif looked over the dyno runs.....he could then tell when it started to slip....the clutch did not give up like normal clutches..... It started to slip little by little.... Sharif will look into the OS Quad and start over

by the last pull, it was obvious that the clutch was letting loose as soon as the torque was coming on hard... what i take away from this is that these turbos are are spooling very quickly and hammering away nearly instantly... this monster is going to pull like mad...
mike, i understand your frustration and disappointment...but, i'm still thinking you should see this thing through with a stouter clutch or you will not be satiated or happy... 655whp on a slipping clutch on the "heartbreaker" is nasty as fsck. i think if the clutch would have held, that 655 would have been higher... this is easily over 700whp on a DJ...and that is nothing to sneeze at... but, i know you...and you won't be happy unless you see what you can really get out of your setup... |

a 100 ft-lb jump in 250 rpms is huge. only rivaled by a big single. I know carbon clutches need to be heated to hold power, maybe too much heat has them slip. Will you try a new 18psi when the clucth is just barely warmed up? Wish we had the dyno charts from your old 850bb tune at FP. Now that would be a cool comparison. Is it realistic that a better clutch would pick him up 250 hp with the way the trq was dropping off (assumeing thats not all clutch related)? Hopefully we find out. even if not, that setup is way better than a smaller turbo close to max. Quote:

Hang in there Mike, its just par for the course this year. It seems that every big build on the forum this year has experienced a setback somewhere along the way.
If it makes you feel any better, I think I am having the same exact issue you are, when I hammer on the car with the meth on I am seeing revving with no pull when the turbos hit full spool and then it goes back to normal when I shift gears. I may wait for your feedback to see what you think the most streetable option is.

Nice progress Mike, Its sad to see set backs on the dyno(story of my year) get the dumps plumped into the exhaust and try the Tilton(I told you I could find a home for that Carbonetic
. We have been waiting this long for results whats another month

Well, if nothing else, the VQ community knows the limits of the Carbonetic Triple now.

The power under the curve is very impressive. Wow. Honestly it is so much more important than peak #s, though I'm sure you'll hit your targets there also. (str8dum1, the graphs are very nice - thank you - they really provide good comparisons versus looking just at peak #s). Congrats Mike and Sharif. Good luck on clutch selection! Just make sure you don't wear it out before next ZdayZ.

, but i must say i already did.... some did... i believe rude told mike that the clutch woudl slip well before 1000whp, as some other vendors also did.... i thougth he could get a few more hp(trying to convert teh dd numbers to DJ)....but then again mikes clutch wasnt brand new , and the ones that still slipped at higher whp were...but i mean, i would consider this with much frustration, since i personally saw it happening... mike should see what his numbers are in DJ, should be about 730-750...it still has impresive power under the curve(whats the rev limit set btw?).... He already knows the answer here anyways, does he want the "street friendly" clutch or the more race one(i haz)?....this will affect somethign else that i was asking him reviews off not long and decided not to get one al together because of streatability....its just want happens.....might not be a bad idea to start driving the car and getting used it it...u can always upgrade later on Last edited by IIQuickSilverII; 11-01-2009 at 05:50 AM. |
