Sick, Sick, clutch! Can't wait for it to be installed, and see the numbers. Good luck in getting your numbers.

Thie biggest kick in the nuts is from Mazoo's 1013whp build

"Reaching the 1000rwhp mark did not come without some problems! My Tilton twin disk carbon clutch started slipping right from the beginning. Intense removed it and shipped it to Tilton to have rebuilt. Because I had Intense under a very tight deadline and would not get the Tilton clutch back in time we got a Carbonetics Triple Disc Carbon Clutch so we would not miss the deadline. The Carbonetics clutch started to slip around 970rwhp so we were forced to wait for my Tilton to get back. After the Tilton was back and reinstalled we got the Z back on the Dyno."

Mike wasnt even remotely close to that whp. Are there different versions of the triple?

Not sure if Mazoo's was new or what, but Mike did state that his had been in the car since '07 and had gone through the iterations of his 700bb setup and 850bb setups...I have no clue how many miles or how much abouse that is equating too though.

but if they do hold that much HP, cant you just rebuild that cluch with new discs. Seems kinda crazy to go from the clutch he likes to something unknown, if the carbonetics can hold around 970 when its newish or built better

To answer all the questions...

The Carbonetics was installed in Oct '07 with the 700bb..... I put a little over 5K miles on it... Some of it was track time.

I switch to the 850bb with zero track time.... It made 700+whp DD with no problems...Matter of fact.. After the 850bb was installed it really sat until I drove it to Zdayz May '09 where we all know one turbo failed.

I was willing to try new discs until I spoke to the Carbonetics people....they said that they have nothing that could get me to what my goals are. 700-750tq DJ is what it will hold MAYBE!!..... So in other words... New or not I am SOL.

I was told my an OS dealer that if the Quad does not make my goal... They would refund all my money.....Eric, Sam . Sharif and a few others told me carbonetics iwould not hold.... So I will move on.

Carbonetics said that they could coat the discs to get me better hold... But Sharif said I had that done to mine. So carbonetics themelves said that their clutch is not made for anything close to my goal.

Mike, after you get a chance to drive with it, give is a quick review of how it drives in comparison to the Carbonetics.
I sure will..Its crazy how my Carbonetics on my race car has held for years with me beating the crap out of it with 680whp 635TQ with out slipping....but then again....the boost does not come on this hard.

I am only going for the powa level on the DD that will get me 1000DJ

Yeah...someone sent me that thread....thats why I was thinking I could make atleast 800 TQ on DD....Maybe they had the clutch custom built....I bought the best they had and FP installed it straight out of the box without doing anything to it....I dont know....Injected also did not think I would make it from what I am being told....because they could only make 700 whp on their DD with a brand new triple....I wish Hal or Greg would have said something......anyway...the Quad is the last stop for me.

I find it excellent that someone is standing by their claims. But who made that promise, OS the company or GTM (or whereever you are getting it from).

Either way thats a good precident. The future big HP builds will know who's door to knock for a clutch that is 'guaranteed to hold'

yeah...thats the reason why a few pages back i asked XKR about that, cause yes the carbonetics Mazoo used was new(it was the one going in my car, till i just upgraded before it went in)

of course.... SAADs supra used tilton... well part of the problem was related to whoever installed it first not following instructions....but you didnt see that on the post(mazoos) cause the goal wasnt to throw anybody under the bus, anyways.

In the supra forum they rated the OS Giken triple to be between 650-900whp so I think hopefully you will be fine with the quad.

Actually after wongy broke the carbonetics triple in for a few thousand miles it held pretty well. I actually saw some of his final race gas numbers that were close to 1k rwhp on injecteds DD with that clutch

Based on the chart posted by midz350, the Tilton clutch looks pretty good. How much does that one cost?
