royal purple oil confusion.
Ok so recently, yesterday, i switched to royal purple. Ive always heard good things about them. And i figure why not.
Well me being the knowledge seeker that i am, i decided to research it. Me also being the idiot i am, only researched it AFTER the oil change.
Anyways i am hearing mix review both on this forum and other forums. Its pretty 50/50 as to whether royal purple is actually a good oil or not.
Chances are this thread will be 50/50 but i would just like fellow user's opinion on royal purple.

Royal Purple is an average oil according to the UOA results. I personally choose oil that have better than average wear ratings.

I too like above average and thats part of the reason i went with royal purple. I heard it was good. Then during my research i see things like "lubricant wears faster than normal oil" or that it "causes extra wear and tear in the engine"

Castrol is a substandard oil that has had issue dating back into the 70's. Valvoline is probably the next best oil on the market than comes Mobil1.
Use a good oil filter change it every 3-4 thousand miles with RP & you can get 20K out of the oil easy.

Rotella is a smart oil they use a fair amount of zinc in their oils which really helps against bearing failure & wear.
Take down an engine & look at the bearing wear when using another certain synthetic, they show a fairly worn main bearing & state, normal wear. If it's normal wear than why use the first in synthetics?
If you like you Retella stay with it. Nothing wrong with that.

Keep this in mind that about 80-90% or all filters made are made by one specialty company. Of course they do many different makes.
