Default Brake Squeaking Noise

I was driving the Z all day Saturday and didn't have any problems with the brakes squeaking until about mid-day. I was leaving Fry's Electronics and noticed this squeaking sound coming from the car. It only happens when I'm going forward and seems to happen every time I step on the brake. When in reverse, I have no problems. I currently have a little over 16k and drive pretty responsibly.

Any ideas what this could be?

Yes, check the pads - much cheaper than rotors!

Should this be covered by the warranty?

Warrenty i dont think cover "wear" parts like rotors/pads/tires/wiper blades/ etc... Unless a defect caused their premature wear.

I could be wrong tho.

Don't you think it's a little strange that it would go out after only 16k miles? I've never had a car where it did that before.

I've had this car in for the following:
1) Car pulling to the right
2) Tire Feathering
3) Bose Amp Replacement
and on Monday now this crap.

I just had to replace my pads and machine the rotors at about the same mileage, I do alot of city driving and accelerate quite hard, which means I need to brake hard. Seems to be normal for the Z.

My OEM brakes were gone at 12,500 miles.

Hawks HPs all the way around! My dime, 75% less dust and no sweaking or squealing.

Well worth the upgrade!

About $320US, including parts, labor and taxes. Done it at the dealer.

Dealership told me i needed to replace my pads and rotors at about 9k miles. I thought that was kinda fast too. Anyway rather than go OEM i ordered the stoptech stage 2 upgrade (not BBK).

I have a question for everyone. I know some of you said that you've already replaced your pads and rotors already but is it normal, for sports cars in general, for the pads to run out so fast? I know on my beater that I didn't replace the pads until 40k miles.

Thanks for the pricing info Vincei. I know what to look forward too come tomorrow morning.

So what are some of you other folks paying for your new setups and how is the brake dust compared to OEM setup?

Thanks

I'm not sure if it's normal in sports cars in general however i remember reading a post somewhere that the brakes wear fast because of a design flaw or something of that sort. True or not, im not sure.

this is the same setup i ordered.

I hear the hawk HPS pads greatly reduce brake dust compared to the OEM pads.

Ouch $649.00!!! I'm sure they are great brakes but a little out of my price range right now. How long are the Hawk HPS pads expected to last on our cars?

Also vincei, what type of pads did you get?

I did oem pads just because my brakes were so finished, I didn't want to drive the car another foot from the dealer. I would have liked to try the Hawks though.

What about EBC V4 Greenstuff Sport Formula Brake Pads? I heard the 'Greenstuff' is pretty decent and hardly any brake dust.

Dropped off the car this morning. Service guy calls me and says that the front pads are gone and I have about 15% left on the back. So it looks like I'm going to replace all the pads with greenstuff.
