gas mileage
Hey all. I just got my Z on monday (CS Touring 6 spd.) I'm totally happy with it so far, but I'm a bit concerned. My trip computer is telling me that my average miles per gallon is in the 15.5-16.5 range. Now, granted I've been doing all city driving (and city driving in LA can definitely yield low gas mileage, but still) but I haven't been hammering on the car. Ever since I noticed my mileage was on the very low side, I started driving the car very easy to see if the mileage would go up, but it hasn't. The car only has 175 miles on it. Does the mileage start to go up throughout the break-in period, or is this something I should contact my dealer about? Any info would be a big help. Thanks,
until its broken in, you wont get good mileage. also, I have noticed that in this car, economy takes a dump at 4.5k RPM. My car is fully broken in, and I am experimenting with economy. All city driving shifting before 3k RPM and driving lightly gives me 20.6 mpg on the computer.
Ive gotten up to 31mpg on the computer with city/highway driving and usually about 18-21 all city driving. Saddly the only times Im on the road are the most crowded lol...
Almost forgot, my car isnt broken in yet. And I live in LA, its a performance model. And the scientific reason for my gas milege is that I have the fuel efficient paint. Oh and while Im on the subject of gas had a nice surprise today was filling up at Mobil next to the 60 freeway on Hacienda Blvd., tank was almost empty and once I was done I noticed I filled up with 11.00 dollars to my dismay I noticed I payed .73 cents for Super Unleaded, even though their sign said 1.73. I ofcourse being the person that I am rushed home got in my SUV and filled the tank right up! Hey it was almost out of gas and it takes close to 50 dollars to fill that tank up.

my Z has been consistent through break-in and regardless of RPM range frequented. I'm getting 21.5-22.5mpg.
I had one long trip where I wound it up to 28 or so, but it settled right back down to the 22ish range.

the best i got on a full tank was 475 and that was on 20 gallons i actully ran out of gas.
but i average abought 300 city driving.
on a interstate i think i could easilly apouch 550 cause the 475 had some city involved

I did have around 20. then I filled up the tank with BP/amaco high test. and reset the trip odeometer, and the gas mileage, to see if the gas mileage agrees with the computer when I next fill up. since then my reading has been around 16.
I have 800miles... I mean, thats just about broken in I think. my gas mileage shouldnt be suffering at this point.

I drive mine like I stole it - from just about every red light (within reason), and my average mph/mpg is 30/and 19.5.... Better than my Crew cab Frontier got, even on trips - I'll post something on highway 6th gear 75-80mph gas consumption after I get back from my Thanksgiving trip -I'm expecting around 25mpg. (And I'll actually check it the old-fashioned way too, just to make sure.)
Peace.
Peace.
