Screw the embargo; 3322lbs????
If that is the true weight than I am cancelling my order. 3186lbs was already pushing it to begin with. How the hell did Nissan manage to make the Z as heavy as the G35 Sedan?? I just don't freakin get it? Keep in mind my perspective. I currently have a Toyota MR2 Spyder and while it's ugly, many magazines have said it's probably one of the best handling cars on earth! At 2200lbs and with the uprated TRD suspension I have on it, the only thing the MR2 lacks is power. I couldn't give a crap about looks and poseur ********. I buy a sportscar for performance. I am wondering if I can get my money back. It's not even about the straight line numbers, it's just that freakin weight!!

People: before this turns into another riduculous thread like the one going already...THE CAR DOES NOT WEIGH 3322 POUNDS!!!! That was either with driver or it's just plain wrong...the car tested was not a production vehicle.
Sorry Raceboy...I don't mean to rant at you...this is really for the next 20 people who are going to reply without knowing the facts. As you can tell, I'm tired of reading the same BS over and over.

After reading the article they said the car weighs in at more than a Vette. That implies a curb weight and not an as tested weight. I don't care what Nissan says, I care what a scale says and most car mags do actually weigh the car.

Weight on its own does not matter--power to weight is what really matters, and the Z does well.
As far as handling goes (which sounds like another concern for you), the results were pretty positive:
"Most important, the steering is direct, linear, and beautifully weighted. The thick-rimmed, cast-magnesium three-spoke wheel provides a seductive combination of stability and immediate responsiveness. As you bend into a corner, the Z carves a smooth line with the exact radius that you command. Turn up the cornering speed, and the tires just bite harder into the pavement, with very little extra steering input required."
"But three curves into our 10Best handling loop I actually uttered this phrase, "Dude, this car rules!" With its short shift throws, linear throttle response, excellent torque, excellent steering, and excellent ride and handling responses, this car totally books. "

If the car weighs more than a Vette, big deal. I'd rather have an extra 130 lbs. that help make the car "rock solid" as the review stated, than a less capable structure at 3190. If I need more power, I'll do some modifications.
The review in C & D was extremely positive and it was still a pre--production car. Things can only get better, and they're pretty damn good right now.

Japan specs...
All Japanese magazines have and are still reporting the following specs... (including Nissan's catalog)...
Version ST (like the Touring) .. 3197 lbs
Version S (like the Track)........3175 lbs
There is no way in bloody hell the Z weighs 3322 lbs.
Stay cool...

curb weight vs. dry weight?
Maybe nissan is talking dry weight without fluids or gas. All the car magazines talk curb weight with a full tank.
I think the Z is too heavy the Z06 vette weighs 200 pounds less!! Thats with an engine that probably weighs at least 200 pounds more so take away the engines and the Vette would weigh 400+ pounds less than the Z
