Chirp in Third
H*!!, I went slideways in third one day lighting them up. I was trying to beat a line of cars to an off ramp and didn't want to make a scene I just wanted to get there first. So I quick shifted 2nd stepped on it at 2500rpm got on it and quick shifted 3rd @ 3000-3500rpm and the torque kicked in and spin the tires at least three times around as I moved over to make the on ramp. I was still moving forward at pretty good speed. It was very controllable so I went with it. I drove through it. Instead of closing the thottle.
That must have freaked out the people behind me and maybe even pissed them off. However, had I back out of the gas I would have been thrown straight off of the turn that I was then in. There was plenty of room. Maybe 3-4 car lengths behind me and they were backing off even more (look at this idiot) so it was just cool, not scary. I expected that out of my higher horsepower cars but never suspected it out of this little 350Z. You might call it drifting Cali style in 3rd gear.
Moral of the story, don't underestimate the torque of the 350Z. Especially on stock tires. Next Mod: NISMO LSD, 3.90EVO gears, sways, Koni's and TIRES.
