Default 06 cupholders?

I was looking at an 06 touring the other day, and I didnt notice any "real" cupholders. I noticed the ones in the doors, and the one in the dash. The space under that sliding door doesnt seem like it would work. Its the space directly behind the shifter. There was a divider spliting the compartment, but it didnt seem like it would hold much, does it actually work for holding drinks or is it for something else? I thought someone said before that there were 5 cupholders, but I really didnt see how the 2 in the console would be any good. Anyone with an 06 that can chime in on this?

the one behind the shifter are cupholders but you can take out the divider and use it to store junk.
why do we need 4 cupholders anyway?

haha. thats what I was wondering too. 5 cupholders and only 2 seats...kinda odd. I was just curious if any of them were actually useful. Thanks jtang.

btw..camaro there is only 4 cupholders in the '06. the fifth one your thinking about is not a cup holder but a "card holder" or "coin holder" as zand03max describes it as.

the ones in the door are intended as water bottle holders. the two in the center with the divider work very well for cups. they hold very well and drink will not tip over either.

+1, except the door cupholders will not hold anything larger than a regular 12oz bottle. I tried putting a propel bottle in there and it wouldn't go in. The two makeshift cupholders in the sliding door compartment are very useful, and doesn't get in the way of shifting either.

Yes, they are for water only. They have amber LEDs! I really like that touch and the location is also perfect because it doesn't stick out. It is way at the bottom and one wouldn't even notice it unless pointed out.

I'm sure NISSAN felt guilty about so many models of Maximas with absolutley NO cupholders, so they had to throw in plenty to average out! My family has had 3 different Maximas ('89-94)and NONE of them had a single cupholder!

Well, 89-94 (3rd gen) Maximas had those "almost" cupholders; the ones in a slide out tray under the stereo. I HATE them with a vengeance.

Well... I guess we didn't have the top-of-the-line Maximas, 'cuz we didn't even have the slide out. My dad's early '90's P.O.S. Sentra has that slide out. We ended up getting those stupid cupholders you hang on the window sill only for them to fall off and drench you with soda when you hit a bump.

the shifter cup holders are great for coffee, while the silde out one in the dash is made for bottled water. I found this out the hard way, on a hard right.

i find it very hard to shift in the morning on my way to wrk with the middle cup holder holding my coffee, but then again i didnt by the z because of all the nicely positioned cup holders, so i'm not complaining.

yeah I was thinking about that this morning on the way to work, it probably would get in the way if you were in 5th or 6th.
