Default Do you guys have these??

These are some stupid speed bumps, or speed humps for that matter, that they put in on one of the roads I take for my daily commute. My GTP handles them fine at 30 mph, (Its actually smoother at 30-35 than at the posted 20mph) I'm wondering how the Z will fair? Will it scrape??? Anyone else have these?

Our town has installed these along several streets to curb speeding. I have no problem going over them. The "Z" has never bottomed or scraped..

Default Lookin good

They look like good patch jobs by our road workers! Bad patches leave the holes the same depth but covered with a thin coat of tar!

I had a scrape as I was going in a driveway.. didnt think I was bottoming out but everytime I would make a right turn into the drive I would hear a scrape or tinny pinging...

So... laid down on the ground... looking like a dead body and looked under the car to find a itty bitty sage brush stuck right near the drive shaft... where it came from I dont know.

no more noises now.

I have some like those right near my place. They're not that bad. I drive like they're not even there. I can go over them at 40 with no problems.

They won't scrape, but you will bounce more in the Z.

(I've got a GTP, too)

Where are those at? I live in Austin and have never seen those type of speed bumps, just the huge bumps in parking lots. (I hate the parking lot speed bumps in Texas)

for the record, while the Z takes the bumps pretty nicely, you could blow out a shock by doing them too quickly, specially in the Z, the shocks were not meant for much travel, or quick travel. go easy on them.

besides, they only put those things in a residential neighborhood, no reason to see how fast you can go...

Throbber,

Is that over in Great Hills? I hate those damn things! Of course, I take 'em at 40 in my SUV right now...

Thanks for the replies.

That road is Seminary Ridge in south Austin near William Cannon and Slaughter Ln.

So do you think its unwise to go over these things on a daily basis? I would think you could risk alignment problems if you dont hit it just right while going too fast. I do hit them at 35 in my GTP because it has bigger tires and soft suspension but the Z will have 40 series and much tighter suspension. So, should I find another (lomger) way home from work after I get the Z?? I have to go over about 6-7 of them twice a day now. What do you think?

You are going to be fine. It isn't that big of a deal, but the bumps are sharper, and the bounce we've been complaining about in the other threads may affect you.

BTW, if you are like me, you'll miss the HUD that I see in the pic

OTOH, putting the speed in the adjustable gauge helps some, as it is still high and easy to see.
