Default 60k maintenance

anyone have this done? how much did it run you and what was performed? did you have the timing chain replaced?

Just looking for some guidance before I start calling the dealerships to schedule the maintenance.

thanks!

Edit: Updated with more accurate information.

Basic 60k service:
Replace engine oil and filter
Replace engine air filter
Replace engine coolant
Replace limited slip differential oil
A bunch of inspections.

Additional premium service:
Lubricate locks and hinges
Replace tranny fluid
Replace engine coolant/flush
Replace engine drive belts
Replace radiator cap/hoses
Replace wiper blades
Even more inspections.

The spark plugs are good for 100k miles and the timing chains should be good for over 100k, not sure exactly but you don't have to worry about that any time soon.

Depending on previous service... I would say you should get:
All oils changed (engine, tranny differential)
Coolant flush
All belts changed (it's time, you don't want one breaking on you)
Radiator cap/hoses
And replace the paper filter (or clean your aftermarket filter)

wow...thanks...there are a couple of things that the service shop is telling me that I should get done...PLEASE ADVISE! (THANKS SO MUCH)

(1) Replace the LSD oil (I heard this is not serviceable)
(2) Replace Transmission oil (fluid, whatever...I have a manual)
(3) Spark Plugs

Thanks for the help. I want to take care of the car, but don't want to have unnecessary things worked on.

flush/refill radiator
change oil
change trans and diff
change plugs
change in cabin filter
you can do everything but the radiator and trans/diff at home easily

I think the 60k package is a waste of $. All you need is a oil change, coolant, belts if not replaced already, tranny fluid, differential. Plugs should be good for 80k miles. Inspect brake pads(you could do yourself).

honestly you can do most of the work yourself, if there is a garage you trust go to them to do the fluid flushes/refills but bring your nissan fluid.

This is probably one of the Easiest and cheapest Service Items going, Takes about 20 Minutes Mounted to the Car, 10 Minutes off the car.

just as an update...

I took my car to a local foreign speciality shop where I know the lead mechanic. While he can't cut me too much of a deal, he does make sure that no one messes with my car.

I got the engine belts changed, the differential and tranny oil changed, the fluids flushed and replaced, and the brakes checked.

All totaled, $396. Not too terrible bad.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but I'm hitting 60k right about now too. Why is it that Nissan doesn't specify to have the water pump replaced when a lot of other manufacturers do at the 60k?

I think it's about time to get my diff and tranny fluid changed, but should I also have my clutch and brake fluid flushed and refilled also?

Have you had your tranny replaced? If not and approaching 60k I would just bring it in and complain about grinding, they wont even look at it and just go ahead and order you a new one. Its covered by your powertrain warranty so you dont have to pay a dime ;-) That solves you tranny fluid problem. The rest you can easily do in your garage.

i have 100k extended warranty, so I think I'll hold off on the tranny

Should the water pump be replaced though?

water pump is fine. water pump on most cars gets replaced with the timing belt at around 110K miles.
