Default Gas overfilling problem...

Went to go fill up today, said about 120mte (about 6gals left), I'm at about 12.75 gallons filling up and the pump stops as normal.
Then I fill a bit to round off (.15 cents) Then the fuel starts to overfill and pours out, all on the sidebody and is dripping heavily on the ground...

Why did it overfill at only about <19gallons?

(not the first time this happend...)

Mine always overflows if you top it off and it only takes 15 gallons with 0 DTE. The other day I forgot to slow it down when it was close to full and the auto shut-off on the pump failed, so like 1/4 overflowed

350zs have an array of fuel problems. You could have a faulty sending unit and/or a faulty shutter valve. There are TSB's for these issues and they are covered under warranty.

But to cover human error...

Do not try to keep filling if the pump shuts off. I know it may sound silly, but it shuts off for a reason. When the pump stops that either means your tank is full or the shutter valve stoped the pump early, either way you aren't going to get much more in without creating a mess, and trying to do so is very pointless. Is the Z's 20 gallon tank not huge enough as it is?

120MTE does not equal 6 gallons. There are close to 5 gallons when you reach 0 MTE.

That happened to me. I was just pumping and it wasn't even half way full and it stopped so I kept trying to put more gas in it and next thing I know it spit out gas all over me. I was so freaking pissed. I didn't even get half a tank full so I just left. It hasn't happened since though. Wierdest thing ever.

When the pump shuts off automatically, do not try to put more gas in the car.

120mte
I'm getting 20mpg.
120 divided by 20 is 6.
Therefore, 6gallons left.

Right? lol

But the weird thing, I only topped off .15cents. Like .10 gallons lol.

The simple thing that I do when this problem occurs, is simply count to ten, turn the gas pump nozzle up side down and continue to flow in gas at a slower rate. I have had no problem since I have been using this technique. Seems to me that there is a serious bottle neck with the 350z and the gas is not going down as fast as it is going in. Try it that way and you should have better results.

That is not an acceptable practice IMO, and you can just as easily cause a big mess doing that.

Take the car in and have the "tank hard to fill" tsb addressed. Once they replace the shutter valve it will solve the problem. That means no more hand stands trying to get a full tank.

Trust me, I had this problem worse than anyone on this forum I've heard from. In 2 years I got a full tank maybe twice. I tried every trick in the book, including yours. The solution is to have the problem addressed, not black voodoo magic with the gas pump.

haha are you serious? I say I'm getting bad gas mileage when I drop below 21.5mpg. Do you have a lot of mods or just drive the crap out of your Z?

On my fleet...

When the low fuel light comes on, I have about 3 - 3 1/2 gallons left in the tank.
