I've just been reading a lot of posts discussing the arrival of the cars.
For what its worth, the Nissan representative at the GroupZ meeting told me production started 2 weeks ago.
So smile everybody, the cars are real close.... I can almost smell that new-car smell....

Wow. That's great. It'd be nice if that info came from the F*CKING DEALER or Nissan. Imagine being a pre-order customer without any idea that sites like this exist AND having a shitty dealer. Talk about being left out in the cold.

Does anyone have any idea how many cars Nissan produces per day at the factory?
I have heard that they can produce a typical car in 17 hours. It would be interesting to know the production capabilities so we can take a strong guess on when we will get our cars..

Interesting Q&A about how long it takes to produce a car:

My source was a Nissan NA engineer responsible for linking marketing to engineering and he drives the 350Z all the time here in L.A.

I think there are probably 2 production dates. I think that when production began in June, it was for the Japanese fairlady models. This latest reporting of production starting 2 weeks ago is probably the US LHD model. Just a guess.
