Default Launching an automatic 350z tips plz

I am not trying to burn out my tired before I recieve my new rims n tires i have ordered n would like to see if anyone has done their homework on launching a automatic 06 350z. I just took the traction control off and held the brake down while pressing the gas and when i drop the break n hit the gas i spin wheels for a while. Any idea as to what i should try reving the engine to in order to get the most efficiant launch from this car?

also is it better to step on the break n rev up the rpms or use the handbreak?

how are you going to rev your engine for a launch if youre driving an automatic? im pretty confused, but isn't launching with an automatic the easiest thing to do?

I'm not totally sure on this but can't you just stick it in Neutral and then just pop it into drive as a way of launching? But then again you are probably using the manual mode in your Z right?

I don't really know to much about AT Z's or AT cars for launching in general. Hope you find what your looking for.

hold your brake down with left foot, gas a lil and load the engine to whatever rpm you want to launch at and then let go of the brake. Works great on my auto Z.

nismo that is what i attempted to do however i sat there n spun tires for about about 10 sec, the car almost turned sideways. Im trying to figure out if somone has actually sat there and experimented with the best rpm to bring the car to before letting go of the break.

i think stock stall is around 2k rpm so just rev up there and feather the gas when you release. its pretty ez to launch a auto car, especially RWD

Without some sort of gauge to measure, I haven't the faintest idea how you are doing. Need to see some time slips.

BTW staging pad techniques for the 350Z automatic is a popular subject in the drag racing forum.

i have taken my auto Z to the drag strip many times. Hold the brake down and rev up till about 1500 then mash the gas as you let go of the brakes. the only thing is even at around 1500 you are gonna be spinning tires as you get off the line.... ive started launching around 1200 or so and it seems to get off the line better and I ran a 13.7 on my last trip out. GL and have lots of fun

side note: the neutral drop doesnt work on the auto Z cause it seems to have a rev kill or something. As you are putting it into drive the car kills the power of the car for a few seconds.

This is not a recommended technique unless you like to replace parts.

Do a brake torque launch. Leaving TCS on or off seems to be a matter of how much traction you think you will get on the launch. I've gotten 13.9 with TCS on (forgot to turn it off) with only an intake and Michelin Pilot Sport tires as my mods. You'll just have to experiment to see what conditions TCS might help in. If your tires are going to slip a lot it's better to leave the TCS off so that it doesn't cut your power. Step on the brake with your left foot, put it in Neutral and lightly rev the engine with your right foot. You will feel the brake pedal drop just a little bit more as power is applied. With your left foot still on the brake, put it into Drive and rev the engine to around 1200-1800 RPMs. Don't hold this for very long. Unless your reaction time is very fast, start releasing the brake and stepping on the throttle at the same time on the second to last light.

Good luck.
