Yes. The hood will be there to fit the new motor.

The vast majority of the pics so far have been of one car at various autoshows in Carbon Silver. This car was called a "preproduction model" by Nissan so it is not entirely certain that what we've seen so far is the final product. There was one other picture in circulation of the Solar Orange Grand Touring but that picture had it's hood raised to show the engine compartment. I would guess that the car for sale in a few weeks will look identical to these 2 cars but until then, nobody can be absolutely certain.

Here's my questions for you though: Would you rather have a car that is visually appealing over a car that is 13hp faster? If you answered yes, then my second question would be... an STi... are you serious? Since when do looks matter to you? Must be a recent development.

I look at alot of things

1. Power
2. potential for more power
3. looks
4. practicality
5. Aftermarket support

Thats just me though, I'm sure others are very different. I don't look for just one thing.

Ah, found the pics of the 07, I don't think the hood is that bad looking. Is that the only thing that has changed. I know about the engine already.

I said a few weeks ago out loud to a co-worker who had visited this site and saw the pictures of the 07: "Yeah the new hood looks pretty strange from certain angles. From afar while looking at the entire car, it looks like a badass car though. Good thing I'm buying the car and not just the hood, huh?"

Check out the "Charting the changes" thread.

The reason I am asking questions is cause I am getting rid of my 03 turbo Z, but still want a Z so was kind of intersted in the 07.

Checking out that thread right now.

I agree, I think that from a distance it could give an aggressive look.

^ I'd like STi.. but I wouldn't trade my Z for it though.
If you can live with that hood than go for '07. If not, go for '06.

Either way..you are going to miss that Turbo kick-back that Z doesn't have..

Ehh. There was a sound clip of the new G35 sedan with the HR motor in it in a past thread. And there has been some pics of the back of the 07 Z at an angle posted before. I thought I had saved them but after looking around my HD a lil bit I can't seem to find them. Visually, it looks the same. The new exhaust is supposed to have an X design as opposed to the Y pipe that the current models have. The sound clip has been described by some as "throaty" but since I don't have a Z to compare it to, I would simply describe the sound as ****ing badass. That's about all I can say on that. Sorry for not having the pics.

Well, to answer the original question: nothing is "for sure" until it actually happens. Nissan hasn't put any official info up on their website about the '07 Z.

As far as the exhaust, it will be a true dual exhaust setup for the new HR engine, so it's going to sound at least a little different. All we have to go on right now is the info at http://www.vq35hr.com/tech.shtml The sound clip is believed to be from the '07 G35 Sedan.
