Default First burnout

OK-I've been kind of taiking it easy since I bought my Z. I waited until about 1,000 miles until I first hit redline. Since then I've been taking some on-ramps kind of fast and driving a little aggresive.

Tonight I decided what-the-**** I'm going to treat this car like I'm 16 again.

I rolled up on a stoplight. I reved to about 2,500, let out the clucth and punched it. Damn I love speed. I spun all the way through 1st and went sideways in 2nd and nearly got wood.

Keep in mind I've had a 74 Z-28 with a 427 (500+hp), Honda cbr600, Bombadier DDS650 (Fastest quad made) so I know fast.

To all those new owners:

Pick a place where you know no law enforcement is around and let'er rip. I hadn't done it in years and it feels so good.

I had to tell everyone about my first burnout in the Z.

He almost got WOOD. UP to his expectations? Sounds that way to me.

It could have been premature.

He even could have burned-out while burning out.

But somehow I doubt it.

He's a Z guy---Right!

It was better then expected. I had read some posts about how people were having trouble spinning their tires in 2nd, Those people must not know how to drive.

I have yet to race anyone (iowa) so it was good to see what it would do off the start. It was 30 degrees here last night so that probably made it a little more squirely.

And all this time I thought I was supposed to hook up the tires and not spin them... I better get that "How to drive" book out and see what I could be doing wrong.

LOL, actually you have it right, I was driving hard tis morning, I didn't brake them loose, this is something that you want to avoid, I have been driving hard so much of my life that it is almost programed into my head, NOT to do it, I really have to try to do it, and it feels unnatural (like I am burning my clutch, etc...).

Of course it probably is a bit harder when I have my Toyo 275s with a much better traction rating (the stock 18" where easier).

I'm not talking about trying to get off the line fast. I'm talking about just letting them rip. There's somehing to be said for the feeling.
